India is not even mentioned in the local news here.

Yeh, i love how Media organizations makes news titles like "Australia to counter India, China in Indian Ocean" just to make people go crazy like some people in this thread.

The government didn't mention anything about "countering" China and India, it's an assumptions by media organizations. Yet, people ignore this and assume this is what the government has said.

Just more hype by the Western Countries to boost weapon sales. India and China have no issues with Australia, so who is pushing the hype? Must be US Defense Supplier willing to sell mor FA-18s to Australia.

Though India won the World Cup but the Australian Navy needs to accept that.

People are making the assumption that the countries are going to war so Australia is building up it's military for war. This is not the case. Australia is simply repositioning it's forces and upgrading it's equipment for self defence and protection.

Basically what xdrive said, the news was and the statement by the Australian defence minister was about bolstering our defenses,. If any one tries to be adventurous in our waters, we have got enough fire power to give them a severe belting .

the americans keep conducting naval exercises in indian ocean , does that mean that america is going for a war with india , this is a total BS thread , australia is a country full of coal mines and other energy resourses , so both india and china would never go on war with it for thier own interest's , the australians are just trying to strengthen their forces , i can't see them preparing for a conflict with india or china.
