Australia must abandon criticism of China and see the development of its largest trading partner as an opportunity if bilateral relations are to improve, Beijing's ambassador to Canberra said on Thursday.

i recommend the Australians play along with this suggestion by the Chinese.
if they get out of line (over the next 50 years and longer), you can always call in NATO help ;) :)

. . .
No. We are a free country and we will freely criticise a totalitarian Communist dictatorship whenever we want. End of story.
OK, but the economic implications are yours to deal with then.
*if* such things were up to me, which they *aren't* ;) :)

.
Doubtful. Money comes first. Freedom comes later.
True.. Even so called mighty USA can be friends with Saudi. Oppression and working for dictator with money is more important than political self proclaim human right tools.

Actually, the current ScoMo government is very anti-China, like extremely anti-China. I don't remember or recall any Australian Prime Minister are actually pro-China. Talked to a few people, the PM that come the closest is Kevin Rudd, but he was shown the door because of it.

Australia are always going to be Western Centric, and that is something China cannot demand to be change. And as the old proverb says, respect is earned, not demanded. I don't think Australia will drop what it is doing just because China said so.

It's totally okay. Given Australian intel ASIO have given credible evidences to their government of Chinese intrusion. They're within their rights to be angry about it. But they don't want to loss business over it.

Australians are culturally west so it's natural their friendship will be west. Same creed.

There is nothing attractive for Australians about China. Only thing we care about China is making money. Other than that, China has nothing attractive for us. No one cares about Chinese movies, Chinese music, Chinese sports leagues, Chinese entertainment, Chinese fashion, etc. We occasionally eat Chinese food. That’s about it. China has no values that are attractive. What’s attractive about censorship, concentration camps, no rule of law, no independent judiciary, no right to a lawyer, no human rights, no moral or ethical values.

We love American culture (movies, music, sports leagues, food, brands, values, fashion, etc) even if we don’t like the actions of the American government.

China can be 10 times the American economy but China will never have the global cultural attractiveness and impact of America. America has people of many ethnicities in all cultural areas, whereas in China its only for Chinese people. You have to be Chinese to succeed in China. American multiculturalism is one of the most attractive things about it. America gives everyone an opportunity, in China you have to be Chinese. Chinese language is very difficult compared to English. Much easier to understand a simple language like English.

Give me America over China any day.

But you can't expect to earn Chinese while hating it. While Australia can't live without money. Australia need change the mentality that they can't expect to earn more money from Chinese while hate us.

China never force anybody but it's Australia whoring themselves for business with China. When China stop import Australia coal. Australia ask China to separate politics with business.. I thought Australia has so much backbone to tell off China , so be it....

China foreign minister response is just a reminder to naive Australian that without improvement in Australia attitude towards China. Business with Australia will always be bad. We never force Australia but if you want to earn more of our money and expect to please me.... Isn't that simple? :enjoy:

It is not about hating China, it is about doing business. If and when I do business, I don't love or hate the people I do business with, I just do the exchange and move on to the next business.

That is where you and most Chinese member here getting emotion. Money is Money, Relationship is Relationship, just because Australian love Anime, that does not mean they have to bow down to Japanese Culture, Just because Australian love their Hamburger, that does not mean they need to bow down to the American (Austral-US relationship is another issue, which was explained before) The same way if Australian do business with China, they don't need to love or hate China. They don't need to respect or disrespect China to do business. It's a conscious transaction

That is what you don't understand. Each nation have their own agenda, Australia have its own, China have its own. And at no point, you can demand respect from another party just because you are doing some business with it. Whoring or not whoring, this is quite stupid. And as I said, Australia and China relationship are at all time low, I don't see any business were bad.

You are delusional if you think otherwise. Money is king, but not that kind of king.

Save the name calling please. I try to be civilise to you, but obviously, you have an intelligence of less than a cow.

It is because there are many way to skin a cat, which make the "relationship" between Australia and China non-exclusive, you don't want to do business with us? Okay, take a hike, and if I don't like to do business with you? I won't. No matter what kind of asskissing would not make me think otherwise.

Businessman goes where the money goes, it does not mean they love who ever is doing the business, that just mean they love money. And it is quite obvious you don't know the different between a service and a business.

I think you know nothing... It is Australia now asking China to be fair when comes to trade with China.. asking China to increase more trade with Australia. Not the way round, China never ask for more business with Australia. You still don't know it's Australia whoring themselves for more business with China.

China has their own way to do business that is " To be nice to me first ". You can't force your way on China. Isn't what u preach in the first place?
