Prime Minister's ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy has said BNP leader Tarique Rahman had a meeting with the planners and enforcers of the blast at Hawa Bhaban prior to the August 21 grenade attacks in 2004.

According to BSS, he came up with the statement in a post on his verified Facebook account with a 2-minute visual statement on the matter on Tuesday.

"On August 14, 2004, Tarique had a meeting with the then BNP government's state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar, and Harkat-ul-Jihad leaders Mufti Hannan and Maulana Tajuddin at Hawa Bhaban, an alternate powerhouse of BNP of that tenure," said Joy.

"Tarique Rahman also gave an order to kill the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina while even promising assistance of law enforcers and state agencies to carry out the plan," he said.

"The Hawa Bhaban meeting was also joined by Noor Chowdhury, self-confessed and convicted killer of Bangabandhu, Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, former secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami, Abul Harris Chowdhury, political secretary of the then Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Abdus Salam Pintu, deputy minister of the BNP-Jamaat government," he added.

"Two days later, on August 16, the second meeting was held at the residence of Babar at the capital's Minto Road where the entire plan was chalked out and the decision was finalised," Joy continued.

"Finally, they met again on August 18 at Pintu's residence where Babar, in presence of Pintu's brother Tajuddin and the then prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia's nephew Saiful Islam Duke, handed over 12 arges grenades to Islamist outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad."

On August 21, 2004, Harkat-ul-Jihad blasted the grenades at an anti-terrorism rally headed by the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina in front of Awami League's central office at Bangabandhu Avenue.

The grenade blasts killed twenty-six leaders and activists of Awami League and police helped attackers flee the scene.

Law enforcers even obstructed taking the wounded people to the hospital. Police started showering the spot with water to wash away all the evidence on the spot.

Later, Tarique and Duke, with the aid of state agencies, sent the mastermind of the attack Tajuddin to Pakistan, Joy said.

No wonder, this Joy Kumar of the BAL party was taking video pictures of the Tarique meeting inside Hawa Bhaban. But, we have not seen any of his videos.

But, he forgot to explain why suddenly the BAL meeting was moved from the GPO Muktangon to Bangabandhu Avenue without even notifying the Police.

I agree with you on the SHW facilitating BDR mutiny.

But I don't agree August 21 was orchestrated by SHW.

The reason is simple. Military grenades were used in the attack. The problem with grenades and bombs is you cannot control who is going to be impacted. If she planned it herself, there was a very very high possiblity that she could have died herself due to a misdirected grenade throw. The grenades were pretty close to the stage. They were clearly not duds, since they did kill 24 people and injured many others.

I don't think someone as cunning as Hasina would risk so much. If it was an attack by a sniper, then it was a possibility that SHW may have been involved. But grenades and bombs are very unpredictable.

This was simply BNP pulling an idiotic move realizing they would lose out in next election due to their corruption and mismanagement. They took their shot and failed, and then got a taste of their own treatment when Hasina came back to power.

Sohel Rana was the Home State Minister then. He was not part of a conspiracy to teach our military a lesson. But, he was ordered to bring about two dozen of BDR uniforms from Sylhet by a Helicopter.

Some of these uniforms were worn by the BCL or Jubo League caders (probably five criminals) who went inside Pilkhana in a minibus and when General Shakil came out at gunpoint, he was fired by them and killed.

The minibus immediately left the spot. Their mission was accomplished. This started the carnage by others wearing borrowed uniforms.

Arrest them and you will find out the truth. Can you tell me why suddenly Sohel Rana left the Hasina Cabinet? He now knew about the conspiracy and could not accept it.

Please watch the analysis in the video. Note that had the venue not changed and there was a grenade attack in the Muktangon, you can claim that the BNP govt was behind it.

But, Hasina changed the venue suddenly. Can you just claim that the BNP terror group immediately flew to Bangabandhu Avenue and rented a few apartments in the building just behind the truck Hasina was standing on and threw grenades below?

Hasina's truck was the nearest to the bldg, yet not one grenade was thrown at the truck. All the grenades were thrown over the truck to others.

Military grenade is no issue because in a country like BD this can be managed or copied. General Tareque Siddiqui was Hasina's accomplice. He is the brother-in-law of Rehana Bibi.
