Due to different tax breaks on EV imports, demand for luxury electric vehicles (EVs) is fastly increasing in Pakistan.
Vehicles like the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan, and Audi E-Tron SUVs are becoming very common on Pakistan roads.
One of the common EV Companies in Pakistan, Audi Pakistan has recently imported 48 units of the E-Tron GT to Pakistan up till now. The RS E-Tron GT, which is Audi’s flagship electric vehicle, accounts for five of the 48 units.
However, it is to be noted that, despite the fact that the E-Tron GT’s price ranges from Rs. 21.5 million to Rs. 29.5 million, it’s in high demand in Pakistan.

Audi Pakistan has already sold 500 units of E-tron SUV one year after its launch in Pakistan.

Yes.. And recently govt banned the import of CBUs for 6 months after import bill touched 7 billion last month.

Can someone tell me what the VAT is on imported CBU luxury vehicles like this?

In Bangladesh for MBZ, Audi, Range Rover etc. it is 800%.

For EV it is less. There is 50% exemption from duty and taxes on EV. So baseline varient of E-tron which cost $66,000 (11300000 pkr) in US, costs 13,800,000 ($78,000) inclusive of all taxes in Pakistan.

For others its 100% customs duty, 70% regulatory duty, 7% additional customs duty, 30% federal excise duty, 17% sales tax and 12% withholding tax, bringing total taxes to 236% of the import value of the vehicle.

Thanks for the details brother. Still way cheaper than Bangladesh.

Though I believe the tariff structure is being modified for EV's in Bangladesh similarly and there is a new circular out.

Yes bro the govt here is also pushing EVs. Therefore reduction in taxes and such.

But widespread adoption of EV is not possible with $100000 vehicles, especially in South Asia. Instead low cost EV hatchbacks should be adapted and promoted like China, which cost a couple of thousand bucks.

I wholeheartedly agree, that is the right approach.

Local assembly of such vehicles to lower cost and enhance adoption, even better.

A tie-up with Chinese reputable brands like NIO maybe a possibility. don't know if NIO makes a small economical EV hatchback.

Maybe one of the Chinese brothers can please comment.

Proud Pakistani's keeps on increasing the imports to create the balance of trade bills while Pakistani PM is asking Saudi's to put money in the state bank coffers so we don't default. What a priority of the nation and the government.

bhai these are private business men and rich elites importing these luxury sedans ,

the elite doesnt really care

Rich of Pakistan are likely to have a charging point build at their terrace or massion for their EV bought.

How good is the EV infrastructure of Pakistan? I think it still not feasible to introduce EV in Pakistan yet.

Yep.... except in a few major cities, EV charging infrastructure is non-existent in Pakistan.

When people say that Pakistanis dont pay taxes, it is this very segment that doesn't. Every salaried person is taxed at source, even those living under the poverty line, have to pay taxes indirectly, which is about to go up, thanks to these "Elites" .
