PESHAWAR: At least six security personnel were killed and three injured when a military convoy was ambushed by militants in Sara Khwaara area on Kohat Road in the outskirts of Peshawar late on Wednesday.‏

Official sources told Dawn.com that heavily armed militants targeted the convoy in Sara Khwaara area of Mattani district near the troubled Darra Adamkhel region, killing six security personnel.

A vehicle of the para-military forces was also destroyed in the attack which was initiated with rockets fires, the added.

The security forces also claimed to have killed at least four attackers as a search operation is ongoing in the area.

The exchange of fires between the militants and the security forces continued for almost an hour during which three security personnel were also injured.

On May 16, an army convoy was attacked in the same area also leaving at least five soldiers dead.

No one has yet accepted responsibility of the attack, however, the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have carried out similar attacks in the area on military convoys in the past.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly

RIP. May Allah grant Jannah to all these brave sons of the nation.

Look how flagrantly they just barge in and attack the security forces.

How long is it going to take to clean this up?

No policy and no plan whatsoever to deal with this. Everyone in power is responsible for this.

Most likely a revenge attack by Dara adam khel faction of TTP to avenge the deaths of 2 of their comrades at the hands of Pak supported Ansar ul Islam yezsterday.
5 Ansar Ul Islam cadres were also killed yesterday

I really don't get why Pakistan is not buy Armed Drones from China to avoid such things, use armed drones in trouble areas, monitor the area 24/7 & kill these rented terrorists. Now Pakistan Army is suffering casualties, they should use PAF regularly in the trouble region.

Simply because those are not matured yet.

Idiot. These are ambushes in surroundings of peshawer city....their hideouts are some where else. If a military convoy is ambushed in peshawer city, is PAF supposed to drop bombs on that city?

One of the security personnel a Naib Sobedar killed is/was my neighbour his Janaza is at 3PM today. Such a nice and humble fellow he was and a father of three kids. RIP Brave souls.

We are saddened to hear that six security personnel were killed in this act of terror. Incidents like these continue to remind us that extremist organizations are working against our peace objectives in the region. We face a common threat on both sides of the border. We’ve already lost thousands of brave soldiers in countering insurgency. Our sacrifices on both sides of the border clarify our stance against terrorism. We share a common vision in regards to stabilizing the region, and it only makes sense to work side by side and support each other. It is also imperative for us to stay away from conspiracy theories that deter us from trusting each other. We stand by Pakistan in its fight against these extremist organizations and hope to continue our partnership for the betterment of the region.
