Just to back up my assessment of AQN and the shift of attention to Quetta, well now its confirmed:

NY Times reported that President Obama and his national security advisers “are considering expanding the American covert war in Pakistan far beyond the unruly tribal areas to strike at a different center of Taliban power in Balochistan, where top Taliban leaders are orchestrating attacks into southern Afghanistan.” Senior administration officials told the news agency that recent high-level reports on Pakistan and Afghanistan have “called for broadening the target area to include a major insurgent sanctuary in and around the city of Quetta,” since Mullah Omar has reportedly been operating in and around that area for years.

This post has come in some time before. Can you give me a time frame by which PA can catch Baitbulla Mehsud?

I will be very honest, this is not going to be a one day operation. Especially with Zardari & Co in Islamabad. There is a serious rift between army and civillian government.

I think now is a time not for a tri-lateral but a quadra-lateral or perhaps a regional SAARC confrence on the issue Taliban poses to South Asia. Pak army is already operating in Bajur and have established countless check posts to catch potential infiltrators.

For example in Rawalpindi city alone the police have set-up around 300 or so check posts. It is only a matter of time, but we need the international communtiy to support us, this is a very testing time for us and our security aparatus.

Inshallah we will catch these miscreants, it is only a matter of time. But what is needed is a strong government, which sadly we do not have.
