Astronaut Sunita accepts Islam

Sunita Williams, a US astronaut of Indian origin, who returned to the earth recently after197 days' stay on space station along with her other four crew members, has accepted Islam, according to unconfirmed sources.

Though her embracing Islam has not been officially declared, she and her fellow astronauts were astonished at Holy Kaaba and Masjid-e-Nabubi glowing in the dark.

Sources said, while taking photographs of earth from the spacecraft with the help of powerful telescope they found the complete earth dark except two places - Makkah and Madinah, two famous sites dear to the Muslims.

Sources added that the pictures they took from satellite are very interesting.

I fail to understand what is there to be reported as newsworthy.... Religon is the choice of the individual..... and how does it make the difference to her skill set or anything if she follows Islam or Hinduism. At the end of the day life remains same on the practical grounds

While I do not know what religion she is, this question may refer to a hoax that has been around which claims that she converted to Islam because of things that she saw while on the moon. The claim refers to her as the 'first Indian woman on the moon'. This is completely false. Not only is she not the first Indian woman on the moon, there have been no women at all on the moon as yet. She did live on the ISS for a time, but definitely did not go to the moon!

Can someone do some basic research and find out who was last on the moon? Now the hoax is amended to say Sunita was on the ISS.

Gents...This hoax have been around for years. I understand that it is a feather in Islam's cap every time there is a convert, but do try to exercise some critical thinking. Why is there a need to create these hoaxes, from Michael Jackson to an astronaut?

I still fail to understand what is the point if she is a muslim or not.... after converting to muslim will her skillset change or will she be able to write that in her resume that she converted. so what is the point behind this.
