Assessing Musharraf's Rule on the Twelfth Anniverary of the 1999 Coup

And all these economic advancements were made true by Shaukat Aziz, a very astute banker, and everybody got ruined when they got into politics with the Chaudhrys.

Prior to US intervention

All the crooks were banished from Pakistan

a) Zardari & his family and their assets (illegally stolen funds were frozen in European banks)
b) Nawaz Sharif was banished from Pakistan in Saudi Arabia
c) Altaf bahi was already drinking wiskey with Tony blair

With all these crooks away , Pakistan was just doing fine , until they decided to come home and since then Pakistani economy is going downward and the politicians are to blame

Just recently Nawaz is launching a campaign to shut down businesses etc

it still isnt exactly going downwards, just slowed down..

Well the correction has to be made "Fire all members of Parliament"

Exile Nawaz, Bilawal + Zardari and CO , Altaf Bahi is already away in Luxury in UK

Freeze the assets of all these non tax payers

Fire all these Parties , and their loyalist

Put in Army and Imran Khan in power this is what people want and put Musharraf back if possible as well

If that is the case, just hold elections and be done with it..

That so called miracle doesn't happen its just that the US+EU provided the aid, they provided soft loans and postpone loan payments and in balance sheet its reflects as a miracle but in reality nothing have changed. :pop:

US and EU give us loans, the economy does not get up by loans. We were paying off our loans at that time, and our poverty lowered, more people got into middle class zone, tax base grew, now that does not happen because of loans.

Musharraf is a past, who's fame is floating on that imaginary economical policies he ventured (with US and West's support ofcoure), but no one didn't notice why Pakistan's is in energy crisis today, is just because of his 'deliberate' negligence, which worked as a slow poison for the downfall of the country. The assessors should also put the energy factor into their assessment, because, energy is what runs the country.

yara ur wrong my dear even in the times when the oil was just 100 above the barrel the load shedding was mere 1 hour or 2 at most and when evr he tried to make the new dams u people were the one that ruined it all rember the kalabagh dam the bunjil dam whose feasabilty report was done in year 2009 started by musharaf in 2005 why is that dam not allowed to be build even when the feasabilty report is in its favour sir its all mismanagment if todau you guys pay the money you own to the ipp the light is there with out any problem so dont just talk with ur head closed

Contrary to all the claims about lack of generating capacity, the real cause of extended load shedding of 10-15 hrs after Mush's departure has been massive financial mismanagement of circular debt and outright corruption through rental power schemes.

In fact, former finance minister Shaukat Tareen resigned over this issue.

Haq's Musings: Pakistan's "Circular Debt" and "Load Shedding"

yup, massive massive circular debt, PSO, WAPDA, power plants, and some other authorities as well, I have the exact figures and the chain here somewhere as well.

But we do need more power projects as well, in order to secure the future.

This is just nonsense.

Pakistan is getting more aid today than it did under Musharraf, but the economy is stagnating.

The real issue is serious loss of confidence in the current govt that has dried up the flow of investment dollars which drove rapid growth under Musharraf.

Thanks to Musharraf's reforms, Pakistan has created more jobs, graduated more people from schools and colleges, built a larger middle class and lifted more people out of poverty as percentage of its population than India in the last decade. And Pakistan has done so in spite of the huge challenges posed by the war in Afghanistan and a very violent insurgency at home.

The above summary is based on volumes of recently released reports and data on job creation, education, middle class size, public hygiene, poverty and hunger over the last decade that offer new surprising insights into the lives of ordinary people in two South Asian countries.

It's hard to attract investment when the finances in the power industry are such as mess.

This issue has to be resolved to assure potential investors that they will get reasonable return on their investments.

not only that, but also the fact that many of the dams which have been completed in PPP government within the past 3 years were actually started by Musharaf Government, so when they say that his government didnt add a single MW to the grid, thats just a lie...

He took the options that wud give pakistan advantages in the long run instead of short run policy..
what more cud one possibly want from a leader?

Circular debt origninated under Mush regime because he opend the floodgates of credit and loans with no future in sight. As well freezed the rates of electricity which means that many power units may be been operating in loss.

the future was in sight..

IMF and world bank economists are not just idiots..

part of the future was destroyed by democracy in 2007/8...
The rest was destroyed by PPP and PML etc.

now consider the fact that PPP had been in power for a full 3 years and will be there till the election in 2013. what have they done till now? Do you expect them to do anything in the next 2 years? lol I dont think so...
And PML N , its as corrupt as PPP...they have done absolutely nothing in Punjab.
Except one bridge in lahore. The other parking plaza is a joke, no one uses it, its mostly 70% empty..so im thinking they made some money from there as well.

Many of the infrastructure projects started during the Musharaf government, had been cancelled by this democratic government.
Then they got us the Rental power plants, which charge money like hell just for the rent of the plant, operating it is a seperate thing. Instead of paying the Power companies, they paid 100s of millions of dollars to foreign rental plant companies, the "circular debt" problem was started only when these local plants were rejected payment and all the money spent of foreign rental plants which werent even needed.

If you think the local power companies were running in a loss, check for their stocks ur self. They werent running in a complete loss. Although profits were probably low.

Had the PPP government not gotten rental power contracts, we wud have been fine today...
