Pakistan army needs reforms- yes.

But it doesn’t need a full reset. We still need to be a security state given the neighborhood. We still need to have a strong army. But we do need to figure out a way to stop the army from interfering in domestic politics. I don’t know -‘maybe take a page out of Israel- who are also a security state but their establishment doesn’t interfere in domestic politics.

But we also need to fix our justice system which is broken. Our bureaucracy which is incompetent. Our politicians who are corrupt. Our religious leaders who are jaahil. Our political economy which is self-defeating.

Blaming all of the above on army is a red herring.

Bajwa, the braindead is staying put and not retreating(a good General knows when to retreat) for a number of reasons.

The cloak and the image of the strongmen Army, the bestest, the holier than thou portrayal, self created and managed will be destroyed as then he would be the first COAS whose name will go down in the history book as a General who failed, a COAS who was a failure when almost each one of his predecessors succeeded in the regime change in Pakistan.

So he is staying put, and not undoing the mistake and not retreating come what may, the destruction of the country, people doesn't matter.

Look at Turkey their Military Establishment was as Powerful as Pakistan But now under full Civilian Control Turkish Defense Expenditure has Only Increased and TSK has become even More powerful than it was before. But now they are subservient to the will of their Government and their People.

With Civilians in Control we wont be becoming Islamist in one decade and Enlightenedly Moderated the other decade. Civilians will create a policy based on the Long term Interest of the Country and we wont have to deal with Raheel and Bajwa doctrines that keep changing every 3 years.
