That story is fake. though I can see why this would be popular in ottoman folkore. Persian empires and kings had a history and reputation of tolerance, and not taking punitive measures against defeatead enemies. in an era where such behaviour was extremely rare/ unheard of.

while fairly or not, the ottomans/turks had a really bad historical reputation for being uncivilized . I can see the need to create stories.

even one of the most cruel kings in irans history took a lot of mercy on ottomans. At the battle of kars for example. when nader completely anahilated yet another poor ottoman army. he treated all the captured Turkish soldiers with respect, and let them all return home to be free/seek treatment. and this is nader shah, who has unjustly developed a reputation of being irans gengis khan

Hollywood trash and propaganda cant change history. the Iranians had an advanced civilization. with a functioning government, roads, trade buearacracy etc... While the Western people for the most part were still caveman living in caves. The only civilization they had were a few small greek city states. So they have to compensate with propaganda.

1 "western" conquerer managed to defeat iran. and he has been idolized as one of the greatest military men in history. have you noticed why we don't see propaganda coming from the other carrier of western civilization the romans?

the romans had a far more advanced civilization then the greeks. they were far more evenly matched to the persians (unlike the greeks) and the romans and Persian were the superpowers of their times fighting for 600+ years. the reason is simple.

the romans never scored any earth shattering victories against the Persians. while the Persians humiliated the roman army on many historic occasions (battle of carrhae, Battle of Edessa etc.) . including a roman emperor getting captured and taking a historic knee infront of the persian king. it got To the point where roman generals were very reluctant to face Persian cavalry.

I cant prove a negative. its up to you to present valid proof for these folklore type statements.

maybe they might be true? but there is no scholarly evidence of it. its not recorded anywhere in Iranian history. so until there is some proof, one can dismiss this as Turkish propaganda/folkore
