The fourth Delhi dialogue, themed “ASEAN-India Partners for Peace, Progress and Stability” has been held in New Delhi as part of activities to mark two decades of their dialogue partnership.

The ASEAN Secretariat said in a Feb. 14 press release that at the dialogue, the two sides discussed issues related to economic integration prospects and challenges, non-traditional security challenges, traditional security architecture in the Asia-Pacific and building a network of knowledge and science.

Addressing the event, Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna stressed the necessity of strengthening the partnership, saying the further development of India’s “Look East” policy will benefit people in both India and ASEAN countries.

Meanwhile Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Nam Hong welcomed India’s commitments and contributions to the process of building an ASEAN community, including a new infrastructure facility linking India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
He also called for the upgrading of the ASEAN-India dialogue relations to a strategic partnership.

India has cordial relation with almost all ASEAN members .Also ASEAN–India Free Trade Area (AIFTA) is in effect from 2010 ... it makes sense to have India as part of ASEAN+3( China , Japan and S korea. )

Time is ripe of ASEAN+4 with India in it
