Condemning the acts of the extremist Islamic groups such as the ISIS in unequivocal terms, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday said ‘generalising and blaming’ the entire Muslim community, especially at times when several suspected terrorists have been arrested by the NIA, ‘should not happen’.

“I have condemned ISIS. In my speech I spoke against them for 20 minutes and you (media) do not want to carry that. I also condemn this generalisation and blaming the whole Muslim community. And also blaming whole of south of Hyderabad. In south Hyderabad people of all communities are living peacefully. I will continue to condemn ISIS, it is a terrorist organisation. This is everyone’s stand in the community,” he told media in Hyderabad.

The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief had on Friday announced that his party would provide legal aid to five IS suspects arrested from Hyderabad earlier this week by the National Investigation agency.

Backing his party’s decision, Owaisi said that the legal system would anyway have offered legal help to the accused and urged the media not to blow the issue out of proportion and be a hindrance in the legal process.

“You (media) are trying to make a big issue out of the help offered. If we do not give them legal help them court will give them legal help. This is democracy, this is how justice works,” he said.

Owaisi asserted his firm belief in the courts and the legal system, but hinted that NIA’s actions have not been entirely consistent in such cases.

“Look at the role of NIA in recent times. (Swamy) Aseemanand was given bail in Mecca Masjid case, then you shouldn’t have appealed against the bail. What was your (NIA) role in Malegaon case, you said Pragya had played no role, but then court had to intervene. What we are saying is that let the court decide and you present the evidence. If court finds them guilty then yes, they are guilty,” he said.

According to reports, Owaisi had earlier decided to support the accused after the family members of the youth met AIMIM chief and claimed that they are innocent. The Hyderabad MP then said he had directed a lawyer to provide the legal help.

On the other hand, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday received 12-day custody of the five accused, who were arrested from Hyderabad over suspicion of having terror links.

The agency had detained 11 people for suspected terror links in raids conducted at several places in Hyderabad on June 29.

New Delhi: AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) chief Asaduddin Owaisi after being questioned by media over his statement of providing legal aid to the IS suspects arrested by the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) on June 29 said, “Even if I don’t give legal help, Court will give them legal help. What is wrong in it?”

“It is for the NIA to prove charges against them and convict them,” said Owaisi while talking to the media in Hyderabad about the terror suspects.

Owaisi on Friday made it clear that his party would go ahead and provide legal aid to the five terror suspects who had been arrested by the NIA on June 29.

NIA had detained 11 people for suspected terror links in raids conducted at several places in Hyderabad on June 29. Five of the 11 suspects were arrested and sent to a day's judicial custody on June 30. The agency sources said that they had information of the five youth being involved in terrorist activities.

While addressing a gathering Owaisi said, "We never supported terrorism and we will never do it." He claimed that his party was the first one in India to come out openly against IS. He reiterated that IS has nothing to do with Islam.

MIM chief also targeted Modi government and NIA for going soft on the accused in Makkah Masjid, Ajmer and Malegaon blasts. He said Assemanand, an accused in Makkah Masjid and Ajmer blasts was released on bail as the NIA failed to file chargesheet against him in 90 days.

MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday charged the BJP with trying to impose a 'Hindu rashtra' on the country

Hyderabad: MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday charged the BJP with trying to impose a 'Hindu rashtra' on the country in the name of the Uniform Civil Code.

Talking to reporters, he said that the Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to implement the RSS agenda as it had failed to fulfill poll promises.

The Hyderabad MP was reacting to the BJP-led government seeking Law Commission's views on implementation of uniform civil code.

"After failing to provide 1.5 crore jobs, deregulate gas and kerosene and reviving economy, the BJP is trying to implement RSS main agenda of imposing Hindu rashtra," he alleged.

He wondered if government can do away with Article 371 which has given cultural rights and protection to Mizoram and Nagaland.

"Hindu undivided family get tax rebates. Can you remove them?" he asked.

The MP said the government should try for total prohibition which is one of the 16 directive principles of the Constitution, contending that alcohol is cause of many evils in society and is also leading to deaths in road accidents.

Owaisi also defended his announcement that he will provide legal aid to five youth arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and accused the media of blowing this out of proportion.

"If I don't give the legal help, court will appoint a lawyer for them. In our democracy every accused gets legal aid and that is how we do justice in our country," he said and pointed out that legal aid was given even to Mumbai attack convict Ajmal Kasab.

He said NIA had made some charges but the families of the arrested youth told him they are innocent.

"The court will decide whether they are guilty or not and everyone has to accept the court verdict," he said.

The MP reiterated that media by trying to sensationalize the case was targeting old city where Hindus and Muslims were living peacefully.

"Targeting one particular community and branding south of Hyderabad will prove counter productive," he said.

Owaisi reiterated that he was the first to condemn Islamic State and continue to do so. "IS are terrorists and there are no two opinions about it. All Islamic scholars have condemned them," he said.

He also reiterated that if those arrested were acquitted by a court of law, the NIA officers who arrested them should be suspended.

He said in many cases Muslim youth were acquitted by courts but they lost many precious years, citing the cases of the Akshardham attack and the Malegaon andf Makkah Masjid blast cases.

"Who is responsible for their losing those precious years.Just because he is a Muslim, it doesn't mean he has no right to respect to life," he said.

Cannot help it. Arrested terror suspects are all Muslims and have been many times. So eventually suspicion on Muslims will be there. Muslims must act responsibly before choosing their path, that their wrong choice will throw a bad light on other innocents.

Why is this news? There have been numerous cases where innocents have languished in jails for the lack of proper defence.

. .
Judiciary should not interfere in the matters of Anti terrorism squad and internal security of nation, where the lives of innocent tax paying civilians is at stake.

People like owaisi should be shown their rightful place by judiciary, or law must be scratched further to see if even he can be booked for supporting terrorists.

Look like targeting IS is hurting his sentiments........He should come out in open and say he support ISIS....... Monkey's like owaisi are a burden to the country.....

Who the heck is blaming the entire Muslim community? Is he nuts? He sure is!

Idiot, trying to rationalize his initial goof-up which was nothing else but sheer vote bank politics!

.
No problem. I mean, virtually, Indian Police has again ruined the life of countless Indian citizens, including Indian Muslims, by keeping in jail for long, without even any formal charge. Even recently, Law Minister was concerned how many youth were caught for suspicion have their career spoiled out.
They might have radical thoughts, but it takes lot more balls to actually kill people.

As he says, let the Police submit irrefutable evidence. Let the Judge decide. They are innocent until proven guilty. He even seems to have taken less risk. Out of 11 people, he is helping only 5, which means the charges against the rest 6 are beyond defending in court.

BJP seeks Asaduddin Owaisi's arrest for offering legal aid to men linked to Islamic State

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh on Sunday demanded immediate arrest of MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for announcing that his party will provide legal help to five city-based youths arrested by NIA on charges of involvement in an alleged Islamic State terror module.

Alleging that the ruling TRS government in Telangana supports Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), which in turn supports terrorists, the MLA from Goshamahal seat here also demanded the Centre to derecognise the MIM party.

"On one hand Prime Minister Narendra Modi is touring the world to gather support to combat terror, which is a good initiative, but on the other hand, TRS government in Telangana is friends with MIM, which in turn, has friendship with terrorists," he claimed at a press conference here.

Singh, known for his controversial statements who had also earlier been booked for alleged hate speeches, further claimed that the Telangana Police is "sleeping", and asserted that the 'cordon and search' operation conducted by Hyderabad police is done only in the areas as directed by MIM.

The NIA averted major "attack" not only in Telangana but in the country by arresting the five persons which the agency did only after thorough investigation, he said, adding: "I congratulate the NIA officers."

"The revelations of the arrested accused to carry out terror attacks on religious places among others is shocking. The conspiracy has been foiled. But, Asaduddin Owaisi talks of providing legal aid to five Islamic State suspects arrested by the NIA," Singh said and asked Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will it be good to support MIM under such circumstances.

Owaisi on Friday said his party would provide legal help to the five youths arrested by the NIA on charges of involvement in an alleged ISIS terror module, but asserted his party does not support terrorism.

Noting that the family members of the arrested youths met him and claimed they are innocent, the Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP had said he directed a senior advocate to provide legal help to them.

Meanwhile, Singh claimed "earlier also, maximum number of terror suspects were arrested from Old City and they all have been helped financially and in other ways by MIM.

He sought to know why the TRS government was not initiating any action against them and claimed that the TRS indulged in 'vote bank politics' and, hence, was not taking any action against them.

"Think over it... I request the chief minister to ban MIM party and book sedition case against Asaduddin and arrest him immediately. This is the time to initiate action," he said.

The BJP MLA said he will next week meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and give him in writing all information he has on the "terrorist activities going on in Telangana".

Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi alleged that Owaisi is giving "oxygen" to terrorists and that he is seen as "standing with extremists".

"Owaisi is directly or indirectly helping the ISIS which had come up with a video in which it threatened to target India. This is betrayal of the country. On the one hand you condemn the ISIS and on the other hand you support those who are involved in such acts.

"The investigating agencies should take action against him within the legal framework. Those who support terrorism directly or indirectly should be condemned," BJP National Secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

"One should not stoop down to this level in politics that you are seen standing with terrorism and those who support it. Those who give such statements are giving oxygen to terrorism. You do politics but refrain from actions that make it seem like you are supporting terrorism," Naqvi said.

BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said before jumping onto anything, Owaisi should have weighed the pros and cons because the evidence suggests that the arrested youths were allegedly planning to carry out terror-related activities during Ramzan.

"The media is clearly pointing towards evidence that clearly seems to suggest that this is the plot and there is evidence to back it up.

"Now before jumping into it, one should weigh the pros and cons because tomorrow if the court finds that the evidence is sufficient, they are convicted for an act of terror, they are sentenced, then Mr Owaisi will definitely answer a question. Was he openly helping terrorist and that he was very eager to help terrorists?" Kohli said.

Sharma said terrorism should not be seen through religion and also took a dig at those who had targeted the Modi government over intolerance issue as he questioned their silence.
