People come and go. Leaders are no different, they are just people as well. They get to position where they are through circumstance, diligence, cunning...and yes good fortune too.
Leaders may ask for help from another and make use of it the best they can when they see their people in such a state....and see reason why they got there....and vow to themselves it will never happen again on their watch at least....and hopefully longer.
But honestly speaking, I don't see why both sides are this engaged in this flame war this long and all over the place.
There is no reason to let this hate consume you guys that you post picture of victims and all kind of things like this. All countries, civilisations, societies have experienced their darkest moments....at their own hands or hands of foreigners. Why must we mock the dead like this? I admit I indulged in this earlier too sometimes, when trolls got under my skin.....but surely why must it keep going. Is anyone convincing anyone else here....or just the hate and anger has consumed to this level that every thread must turn this way?
China and vietnam trade some 110+ billion USD (China similarly trades a huge deal with Japan, Korea etc too)....I could only wish that for say India-Pakistan where we have this enmity too, but are letting it affect general trade so early.
But instead focus is always on these sad brutal episodes to try chest thump as though it is relevant to argument today.
These murdered people ppl post had dreams, hopes, lives to live out still...they saw joy and sadness...they might have believed in a god or higher purpose, maybe they didnt....they could have been kind or not so kind to others....but why must we post their final cruel fate to make some chest thump deal today? None of you kids (or adults acting like kids which is even worse) have even picked up a gun I bet....forget knowing about what war really is....especially for the defenceless when the evil floods all around.
China , Vietnam have had brutal moments in 20th century....of course memory wont go away so quick. But isnt it best to get wealthy and powerful enough so no one dares to do it again?...rather than simply try to out do who was weakest and worst in their most painful moments in history?
You know well what the backbone of vietnamese are....you outfought that superpower and you persevered through the hard battle spirit of your people. Similarly Chinese also fought and suffered so much against Japanese. Just one conflict you guys then had is enough to create this much lingering animosity to such level that you go back and mock your absolute existential darkest moments and pain you got from
other outsiders? That is very low to keep doing....I wish you both sides stop it. At least keep it focused to your own fight only....mocking other side's victims of other invaders and aggressors evil action is bad. It does not further your arguments (at least among those worth convincing that are neutral), it only takes away.
It is really simple, a civilisation/society is the sum of how many good people there are to say no to evil, no matter what...and do something about it. Its why you even exist today, never forgot that....that there were enough people, your ancestors, that said NO and fought whatever evil came up so that basic life itself may sustain among those they know and love. Really.... money, religion, community, country, tribe, language...it just a means to this end. Size of the opponent does not matter anymore if you are resilient enough this way.
I mean I may not like everything about some country....may have even fought them at some point, but I am clear in who I support when it boils down to good vs evil anywhere. Its why I enjoy such scene and is clear whom I support....just like Chinese friends of mine naturally support the correct side in movies like "Lagaan". There is deeper understanding of right and wrong when it comes to foreigner invading. All of us have it in history....but we should not celebrate such wars and occupations that were inflicted on anyone (whatever argument you have with them today).
Every society had its moments, and how it exists today is basically the total of how it was able to harness its best good people in all its saddest times that matter the most. We must honour them and not dishonour the innocent victims that were defenceless. When you see such evil, never hold back...teach it a lesson so it never returns!:
As a young lad once said: I'm looking for a great warrior.
And the master responded: Great warrior? Wars not make one great!
