What's new

As a Tamil patriot I thank Modi and BJP

Why don't you tell us?

Why do you want BJP to win big?

An independent Tamil homeland in South India will be good for Tamils, good for India and good for the rest of South Asia. A big BJP win will tear the country apart. Can you sense the rumblings already?

In contrast to bragging Indians about their "English" skills, no Pakistani is feeling "proud" about how "good" they speak a foreign language but others don't.

So try harder next time,

No matter how much Indians try and hide it, they were proud to be British subjects.

Ok I get it.

There are already insurgencies in more than 15-20 Indian states and also in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Now election of fanatic hindus will increase the fault lines in already fragile fake country called "India".

This is what OP was trying to say?

You know there is a reason why we do trillions of business especially with tech industries and acquire trillions in the form of FDI YOY from the so called westerners / English speaking countries. The world is a global village and you need to have multiple skills to survive. Learning and using a foreign language properly is infact something to be proud about. But you are entitled to your opinion. :)

Seems so. I mean just look at the commotion that has already begun in India. This is only going to get worse the more power Modi and the BJP manage to usurp. These rulers of Delhi are the same class of people, with the same mindset that brought the sub-continent to partition. These are same people who murdered Gandhi. These people are literally fascists. There is no difference between their way of seeing the world and the way the Nazis saw the world. Sure, there are differences of context but the methodology they are employing is the same. Add into that rules for radicals by Saul Alinksy and you have the Right wing Hindutva movement in India. What is happening in India is not banal everyday democracy. It is a revolution of ideas, and the idea that is gaining traction is Hindutva. Not secular India. That is on life support.

Oh pardon my ignorance, I didn't know that China, Germany, Japan, France, South Korea, Brazil, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece... needed to learn and "feel proud" of a foreign language to do trillions of dollars business.

@NakedLunch Are you feeling proud of your English skills yet?

LOL! I intend to become a Lord. Brushing up on my accent. It's still too cockney. You should see how Indians suck up to English people. Its cringe-worthy. They try and be more English than the English. They make good subjects of the Queen.

And people from Tamil Nadu are distancing themselves more and more from these fanatic extremist Hindutavas?

This is why the OP is being happy that those lunatic extremists are being elected in India, since that would give them more reason to get independence from artificial country called "India"?

This is making more sense now...

First learn some facts before making bold comments. If you are so proud why is Pakistan still a member of The Commonwealth ?? Why are you accepting U.K taxpayers money as aid ? Actually Pakistan top the list. Maybe Pakistanis are the best subjects of the Queen. :p:

Let me just add one thing. The partition of 1947 hit the Hindu psyche very very hard. They thought that when the British would leave, mythical India will come together again. Bharat. But that never happened. The post-partition carnage was a result of massive anger and rage at what happened. This weighed heavily on the minds of Indians and it resulted in a policy of trying to avoid another partition with the tens of millions of Muslims left in India. This skewed the attitude of India's political parties and they used 'liberalism' as a way of appeasing minorities especially Muslims. This left the bulk of the Hindu population with little representation and it is that gap which the Hindu Right wing have exploited. India was not as much afraid of Pakistan as it was of its Muslims. This rise of the BJP is not its rise as much as it is the failure of secularism in India. Secularism patched over the fault-lines in India but at the expense of a large section of Hindu society. Then there is also the burden of history between Muslims and Hindus. In essence, secular politics in India is dying. Their narrative is in tatters and Modi and the BJP have exploited that superbly. This is a complex issue and make no mistake, this Hindutva momentum is a juggernaut.

I agree that "secularism" - even though only on paper - did help patching up some of the fault lines.

But now fanatic hindus in the driving seat, India is sitting on powder keg with a lighter in her hands.

Christians, Dalits, Sikhs, Muslims and then those Maoists.

And these are only few of the fault lines that India currently has. I just hope that sanity prevails and instead of exporting cross-border terrorism, India starts looking at those seriously.

But with those fanatics on the top, I am very pessimistic!

I agree with most of your post except the part about Partition. We genuinely feel it was the best what happened to India. We do not want the burden of another 200 million odd muslims of BD and Pakistan to be added to India.

What you said about liberals and seculars trying to appease Muslims and this leading to heartburn for Hindus and the rise of the BJP is absolutely correct. You cant ignore 80% of the population and expect no one else to take their cause. The nature abhors a vaccum. The rise of the BJP is because of this vaccum of ignoring the Hindu population just because they are the majority

I think there is a saying in Sri Lanka, 'When the elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.' India is in a war of ideas, the grass, ie the common person who is part of the narrative but has no say in it is the one who will suffer. That would be the minorities. These movements have historically trampled over any resistance. They often play themselves out and it is never pretty.

I agree with most of your post

I feel privileged.

All the best guy's. Wait for the day Tamil Nadu is an Independent Country and India disintegrates. Hope at-least some of you
live to see that day. LOL :)

At-least we are getting a chance to select and elect our representatives however bad/corrupt they might be, unlike some of our neighbors who are deprived this basic right for major part of their history. Taking that into consideration, I am more than happy to be an Indian that too a person representing a minority community. :)
