ARY Digital's 'Waada' starring Faysal Quraishi & Shaista Lodhi ranks high on ratings!
As much as we agree that this happens in our society, we're not entirely impressed with it being highlighted so much!

We’re still quite not sure what the makers of Waada are hinting at, how can someone be so pressurised, so moved and so gullible that he’s ready to shun a happy married life for a maid??? Yes, this might have been still happening in our society, and the drama might be getting high ratings, but the storyline doesn't seem unique enough to be brought on television time and time again.
First episode of Waada leaves a bad taste in the mouth
It was quite evident in the first few episodes that Shahab’s (Faysal Quraishi) love for his wife Sumaira (Shaista Lodhi) wasn’t going to last long… Come Jaana, he’s simply overtaken by her presence.. and walks back conveniently on every promise he made to his wife.
With just a little manipulation he’s ready to let go of everything for her sake. The cherry on top of the cake? We’ve seen Jana and her mother Rehmat daling permanent dera at Shahab’s house without anyone wondering why they’re here now that Shahab has married Jaana.
The episode started off with Shahab’s sister reminiscing about how their mother was hysteric and asking for Dania again and again. Dania is seen talking with Sahab and asking him if her birds missed her as well. Sahab tries to convince Dania to stay with him but Dania is adamant that her mother cannot live without her too. Dania agrees to stay when Shahab says that if she’ll be with him, her mama would come here as well.
Dania walks in on Jaana getting ready in Sumaira’s room and using her mother’s things… Dania is furious when Jaana says she is her mama too… Shahab calms her down but she is angry like anything. The kid perhaps emoted more beautifully and her anger seemed quite genuine… just like a child is expected to behave when encountering such a situation. In an outburst of anger
Everyone persuades Shahab to bring Sumaira home as she is the true lady of the house. Having a maid as a wife isn’t honour for the family in the society. And then there is Dania, whom Shahab can genuinely not live without. Shahab is moved and forced to think…
We witness a buildup in the story which is hinting Sahab’s reconciliation with Sumaira and her eagerness to forgive Shahab is evident in her demeanour while the family waits in the living room of Shahab’s house for his decision. Everyone is positive that Shahab will agree to leave Jaana and bring back Sumaira and Dania.
But Rehmat has a cunning plot ready at hand. She is faking Jaana’s pregnancy and much to our surprise, Shahab has accepted it too. The family wants him to leave the house without a moment’s delay when he claims he will not leave Jaana alone in such a situation.
What angers us the most is Shahab’s plea to Sumaira that he doesn’t want to leave the house and be homeless when Jaana is in such a condition. He literally begs Sumaira to let him stay and Sumaira is forced to think…..
All in all the episode didn’t give us much to hang on too… the buildup was unnecessary when a subplot of a fake pregnancy was already in tow. Shaista Lodhi is fit for the morning shows, but a serial… she’s not cut for it.. Lodhi cannot emote realistically onscreen. Rehmat’s vile moves and cunningness were perhaps the highlight of the show, even though she received only a few minutes of camera presence. Ghazala Butt is certainly making us hate her character more than ever with every passing episode, and that is one remarkable achievement for an actress playing such a role.http://www.hipinpakistan.com/news/1...-quraishi-shaista-lodhi-ranks-high-on-ratings
