I do not think the solution (or even a art thereof) is to split the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Byt trying to cauterize the wound and isolate the virulent section, you are only removing from it the moderating influence and demographic dilution of the Hindu parts of Jammu and Ladakh.
Something that was a pretty clever masterstroke that has stood us in good stead internationally at a time when we were neither as powerful or influential on the world stage in terms of international opinion.
Now it really does not matter, and even to those few to whom it still does, there is really nothing anyone can do about it anymore. That is the reality.
From a purely domestic perspective though, both constitutionally and politically, it could bear some debate and thought to merge the state of Jammu and Kashmir, or vice versa, into another existing state, and diluting the Muslim separatist effect even more. Maybe into Himachal? Punjab? Uttarakhand?
