Army ready to eat LESS so that Brethren can eat more!

every body knows , in the world that OUR hounrable COAS is the most power full man in the pakistan,i guss tht, he can advise (dictate) the politicians like our hounrable president:lol:

Your COAS may be both honorable and powerful but he definitely is not stupid..
So he will neither advise, or as you hint, dictate to the President or any other politician on this matter.

You seem to be suffering for a case of "lights on, but nobody is home" syndrome.

What in the sh!t has Obama got to do with this?

To quote you again:
every body knows , in the world that OUR hounrable COAS is the most power full man in the pakistan,i guss tht, he can advise (dictate) the politicians like our hounrable president

Now unless I am mistaken you have said that the COAS can dictate to your President, that is the President of Pakistan.

Now I used the word 'President' in my post as it is spelt with a capital 'P'. You are referring to the person/post not a generalized concept hence uppercase 'P'. This has Sweet F All to do with Obama.

Now to further elaborate; I would strongly suggest to you that your suggestion that the COAS could, though you use the word 'can' hence the use of 'should' be more appropriate to keep it in context, is a case which would imply the COAS would be acting stupidly and out of his prescribed role. That role he himself has defined as being apolitical. That is a role he maintains by not dictating to politicians at any level. He has defined his role as being that of an advisor within the scope of military matters.

Zob, I am one of those guys who believe that my country is indeed messed-up because of the constant intereference of the Army into the government business. But this is a whole different topic, and to be honest with you, our Armed forces who eatup ~4.5% of GDP, if they are donating a tiny bit from their lion's share to the people of Pakistan is not a big deal at all. Still, Army's gesture is praiseworthy.

. .
4.5% of GDP

sir this is not a LION's share as you put it i think.....and sir the INSTITUTION is not messed up its just a certain few....Aslam Baig retired without trying a coup not all Army chiefs plan a COUP....and sir the Army cheif is selected by a corrupt government and IRONICALLY the Prime Minister who thought of putting in a DUMMY as the COAS have been overthrown....

ZIA was hand picked by BHUTTO & MUSHARAFF was hand picked by NAWAZ....

so army doesn't need to be blamed the corrupt politicans who wish to choose dummy COAS are the ones that trigger a military coup that costs our nation dearly!!!

.
Zulifaqar Ali Bhutto thought ARmy was his personal private Militia and he paid the price.Don't mess too much with Army and you'll stay with it.Anyway even if you want to remove COAS do it in an appropriate manner instead of hijacking his plane..anyway regardless of this Army should not interfere in Politics unless it's a very serious national security threat and budget is no problem.WE Have to keep that budget or we will not even have a minimum deterance against India.

. .
Well that is the whole point ,
Who is denying that?
That is exactly the whole point!
across the border civilian orgs monitor Army spending so that there is accountability and to ensure that there is no misuse.
Well, now let's keep the word play out, do you want to suggest that the Army here is away from accountability? and it could do what ever it wants? No institution is bared from accountability, how it can be? You just deliberately misjudged my statement, knowing fully well that i never met the same. But still for your easy assimilation i'll elaborate: i actual meant that as the Airforce cant tell the Navy to buy xyz number of frigates and the army cant tell WAPDA to purchase new electronics and you cant tell me to get new cloths, so the govt also dont interfere in the military's or for that matter any other setups's affair unless it warrants as such. Ofcourse the govt gives a clear tenet to the military and its other institutions like PTCL, WAPDA etc etc so as what to do about their budgets, or should i say that it is the institutions who 'ask' for certain things, raise in bdeget, certain relaxations etc etc and the govt in turn approve and disapproves! Having said that if the military has decided to sacrifce as we all know here that it has always dispalyed more sanity then most of the other Pakistani insitituons so what is the fuss about?

Yes, if this step or any other had threatened to weaken the Army, had put its prestige on stake, or had lower its standards or for that matter had hindered with its fighting capability then by all means the govt and other monitors should have raised eyebrows and pointed out the fingers, but for now lets just keep away the premeditated BS and be thankful that another sacrifice has been made without have any mal-intentions!

This is precisely the place where issues such as these arises. Its nothing else but power play in Indian circles, showing whos the boss at the wrong time. But in PAK army is a institution not to be messed with and that makes a difference.
Should i take is a s a compliment or what?

Having said that thanks for your inputs
Appreciated!
as i do not wish to take this thread to some other direction and thereby taking the shine away from this nice gesture by PA.

Well you already did that!:)

NO LINK! (i hope this is enough for shunning away the notion of 'publicity' by the Army as some genius had indicated here)

This came down to us for implementation through the normal channels of the military communications, i am sorry but as all Army communications and mail is classified as Restricted i'll ill not be able to display that piece if paper here (though i could have scanned it). It is therefore that i also omitted certain details so that i dont cross the line.

i hope that helps.

Agreed in totality!
our Armed forces who eatup ~4.5% of GDP, if they are donating a tiny bit from their lion's share to the people of Pakistan is not a big deal at all. Still, Army's gesture is praiseworthy.

Are you doing some kinda charity!?

i never knew that you so obsessed with the military that you would just blindly accuse it of anything while keeping your brains at a far distance, thereby doubting your intellect that sweet degree that you have!

First, the figure your quotes is wrong.

Second, it is not just the Army who 'eats' up this so called 2.5 % of yours, it includes all the Armed Forces!! i wonder why dont the other two services bother you? Oh i got it now, it was the Army that stepped on your tail last time, isnt it?:)

Third, if you want to see the military's actual expenditures, and also want to know who hard pressed the military is as regards to its domestic expenditures and also how much pain is taken to make the most out of its budget try to read my "Army's Nation building Effort" http://www.defence.pk/forums/355415-post11.html thread, i have given some (regarding very obvious expenditures)hints there about it!

my, dear & great Enigma shahib!:)
why not COAS can ask the president, about that looted money of pakistan? he was on the forfront making a deal with BB ?also Our dear COAS was the keyman for putting NRO crap, from the gen. Musharaf side ,along with MR,Tariq Aziz?
Here is a simple question! for the required Elaboration!:enjoy:

by doing this great gesture, can COAS fullfill the all the hungry & effected peoples living in the camps, specialy when they are in the digts like 2 million?
every body knows , in the world that OUR hounrable COAS is the most power full man in the pakistan,i guss tht, he can advise (dictate) the politicians like our hounrable president:lol:

i gusss, its the time, when we should give more & more to the soilders, who are giving thier 200% to save the homeland?:smitten::wave:

Baty Sir, on one side you are bothered by this 'little' initiative from the Army and accuse it of being omnipowerful and then at the same time you also suggest that the Army should 'dictate' the civilian govt? That aint hapening again, sir.

Why dont we suggest many 'other' patriotic Pakistanis (politicians, stake holder and most importat the People themselves) to do the honor?

Though the military claims that it is there to 'take care' of the country, but not like this.
