MOHALI: Three days after a woman law student alleged rape, police arrested an Army person, Manish Saini, for the offence on Sunday. Saini's name and cellphone number were mentioned in the FIR, which the victim filed on April 11.

Details of the cellphone number led the district police to Saini's posting station in the cantonment area in Pathankot. Saini, who belongs to Patiala, was missing from both his post and his house.

SHO of Phase 1 police station Gurdeep Singh said, "Saini was arrested and he will be produced in a local court on Monday."

First that naval case, now this, it is definitely not positive publicity for a professional army.

Represents a serious breakdown in the discipline of the army.

Large military, much larger country. The first case is complicated because divorce proceedings is also an issue & this is being investigated. Hardly something to deserve a "breakdown" tag.

Could care less what Pakistanis think of our army.

On topic: Crimes happen, if found guilty the courts will do what is needed. Dont know why there needs to be a thread on this...

i agree definitely not a break down considering the large military, but these are only those case which have been reported, one bad apple can spoil the bunch

No trust me its just Pakistanis. Anyways, doesnt matter if its the rest of the world either, what matters to me is what Indians think of their army, and we are 100% in support of them.

Maybe you people just take it in your stride then...something like this happens, the whole cantt is given a thrashing down in Pakistan.

Says alot about your disciplinary standards.

BTW, any idea what was the rank of the accused?
