Army Chief Bajwa says Pakistan should 'revisit' Islamic madrassa schools

takes some big balls to say the harsh reality and General Bajwa has certainly done that.

Now the problem is how do we incorporate some 2.5 million madrassa students into an already average nation education system

.
It is well known fact whole education system needs a reboot and massive school development drive sometime in future

However if a change is of nature that a person loses sense of identity and has no grasp of Islamic identity or history also that is a quite negative move.

To be honest, it is unfair to blame Madrassas...Madrassas are good to be studying as an after school kind of thing...You should allow regular modern education between prime hours of school and then train them with religion if they would like to opt for it...Expecting a Madrassa teacher to teach hinh tech science is kind of unfair...In that way, Christianity maintained their edge with respect to education..Christian missionaries school and some Hindu Saints Schools are supposed to be top notch school in India but then they do not reach anything about religion...

.
for modern education funds are required and our economy is not in a position to fund modern education to such large number of madrsas who already meet their needs by begging from public.coas should first focus on improving our current schools and universities who already lack funds then focus on Improving madrasas

Agreed madrassas were once schools which taught everything from Islamic studies to mathematics to science and played a significant role I triggering the Islamic golden age where science progressed extensively however the reason for that is bcz

1. Madrassas were in huge number which meant that they helped increase literacy and knowledge.
2. That due to having various scientific subjects along with Islamic studies, they increased the research culture of the area. Every student that attended or left was touched by science and in that age it meant a lot. .

In the modern age madrassas completely fell down and focused entirely on religious studies becoming no better than Sunday school. This poses a great problem bcz madrassas can be found at every corner of Pakistan. We don't have nearly as many schools and although they have played a significant role in literacy however they have failed at every other thing and in this modern world it is simply not good enough.

Kaaptan. I won't say shut them down bcz they can be the key that triggers our golden age due to their huge numbers and reach even in remote areas.

If we revisit them. Change their curriculum. Add scientific subjects. Reasoning and creativity rather than robots that only follow orders, we can change the dynamics of the country. Bring them under state fold. Provide full teachers and basically turn them into govt schools ( competent ones) and voila. You have now placed an institution of knowledge at every corner of Pakistan which will advance research culture which is declining in pakistan.

I don't have to tell you what happens when the research culture dies. What hell awaits that nation when that happens.

The above is a struggle but is a thousand times less struggle than comprehensive plans of creating new schools at every corner and then competing with madrassas and parents who send their kids over there. This will also end or greatly diminish the mullah power hold over the nation and would bring the government control and writ over the populace to whole new level.

The likes of khadim rizvi can't win an election but they can bring 5k clowns to the capital and create violence all over Pakistan bcz of these institutions. Only a few and you have your drones in a city and these madrassas are exactly that. Drone making facilities who don't know anything about Islam and when questioned, the kill you under blasphemy.

This is the responsibility of the govt and the govt has absolutely failed in this which is another great accomplishment of N in it's fight against terrorism.

Just like other ball less govts, the N govt has also taken its hands off with the reduction of terrorism not realizing that the military front was a small portion of the war on terror. The real battle was always going to be state vs the drone making machines and quite frankly the state has absolutely failed in it. Absolutely pathetic.

Teach Islamic sciences in secular schools and physical sciences in religious schools - the advice given by Ustad Bediuzzaman to the Ottaman government in early 1900s. Unfortunately it couldn't be implemented then. Only during the Republican era a part of it was implemented in Imam Hatip High Schools. Reis Erdo'an and many of the top guns of his party are the graduates of such high schools....

.
They say this every now and then and yet they have never taken concrete steps to mainstream the madrassah system.

#OneNationOneEducation

Nobody listens to me lol

Best approach would have been to open hifaz e Quran and tafseer department in our schools and colleges but Given our economic conditions bro I totally agrees with you
but what concerns me most is those one room madrassas those should be shutdown and given proper area by government.there is no healthy way of teaching kids in single room you need space for recreational activities.

Government issued identity card. They take the worst possible picture of you and paste it on a card so that you can proudly show it around.
Do madrasas over there usually teach anything other than religious studies. The ones I've seen in India doesn't do that.

That is called the NIC and we have it since 73 i guess. Why are you against the identity card? Do you also treat the US Social security thing as an adhar card?

Madrassahs though have evolved over the past couple of decades but having different system of education is never helpful for any country state or nation. It creates an atmosphere of social imbalance or in your language the 'caste system' where the rich get educated differently to the rest of the 99 percent. Typically you can find any modern science education along with the religious education. The imbalance reflects in the social structure along with career opportunities.

The society is being purposely divided and this is being done systematically to create an imbalance where politicians can exploit the differences further. It is nothing but a tool for the political elite to keep the poor uneducated and stifle their freedom while the rich never care.

if serious attempts are not made in this direction we may very well end up with a problem which we cannot solve. the caste system lives on in the region it has just taken a different disguise.

Give these madrasas some incentives to thrive in a proper way.
Say advertise a special army battalions exclusively to be taken from madrassa boys but on if they speak good english , are computer literate along with a hafiz or moulvi certificate.
For every recruit the army takes , a certain amount to be given to the madrassa for grooming a person like this.

if you do not understand the issue stop commenting on it and first make an informed opinion in your head first before it reaches your tongue.

This is not the issue for the army but for the civil administration. The COAS simply bemoaned the lack of will and motivation showed by the political elite which do not see this issue as the money maker.

This is what is wrong with this line of thinkng. Instead of bringing government schools up to par, the government and establishment are taking out the anger of their own failures on the Medressah system. Provide government controlled easily accessible education to the masses and most people will send their children, thus implicitly solving the problem. Telling Madressahs what to do is acting on foreign diktat and an attempt by materialistic elites to control religious thought and discourse. This is completely wrong.
