Argentina's president makes fun of Chinese

It is human nature that we expect very high standards from people in power and authority. When ordinary people see even a minor weakness which in reality is a non issue, threads like this are the result.

.
Chinese are like Americans. They have a thick skin.

Jealousy has to be earned.

Chinese are pretty indifferent to other people's opinions and obnoxious behavior.

When other people behave badly, it only proves the correctness of Chinese civilization.

However, if you have something legitimate to say, Chinese will listen carefully. If you publish a rational white paper on an important topic, Chinese will study and discuss it in detail.

For example, if you have proof that the inequality of wealth distribution in China is greater than other countries then it will garner a lot of attention among Chinese. In comparison, Fernandez is merely a puff in the wind.

Yep, we are getting tired of playing the racist card everyday.

It's only Cantonese people (like myself) that have a problem with the "r" sound, since the "r" sound does not exist in Cantonese.

However, the "r" sound is very common in Mandarin so they don't have problems with it.

Regardless, business is business, if Argentina can provide good returns they will continue to get investment.

In the standard Chinese Putonghua, there are 'r' and 'l' distinction, but only there is no distinct pronunciation for 'ra' and 'la'.

However, most Chinese have no problem to pronounce it in the English language.

.
How about words with 'Th' like 'Think' 'Thread'? I hear it Sink / Sread. Is it Cantonese or Mandarin?
indeed ,speaking english in china have a south-north difference ,and including speaking mandarin.it is diffcult for southern chinese to distinguish 'sh' and 's' or 'ch' and 'c' ect .as you said,i think it common to make 'think' pronounced as 'sink' .

Exactly, this is a big problem in HK for example.

When speaking Mandarin, instead of saying "shi" a lot of people say "si" because they can't pronounce the "sh" sound properly.

Luckily I learned both Mandarin and English when I was very young, so I don't have too many problems. :P

um,speaking mandarin well is good for speaking english. because mandarin's pronunciation is more near to english's

. . . . .
I don't find this offensive. But I have to admit, this woman has balls. Argentina has been facing one sovereign debt crisis after the other. The IMF and World Bank are looking to swoop into the country and repossess all its assets. China is one the few creditors in the world with the funds and the willingness to stomach the high risk Argentina represents. So it must take a lot of brawn and fearlessness for Kirchner to make a saucy swipe at her benefactors like this. It shows that the country is not easily intimated and not a pushover which, from the perspective of a lender, is almost reassuring :agree:

Most of our folks have problems distinguishing the pronounciation of "word" and "world". May be they have actually confused the two words as one - 'word"

It seems many foreigners think Chinese people can't say the syllable-- R, LOL
In standard Mandarin (Putonghua), have the syllable --R, but donot have --RA, but in some Mandarin dialect have " Ra", Standard Mandarin have-- " re, ri, ro,rao, ru, rou, ruo, rui, run, reng, rong..."
In addition there is a special --"Er" syllable.

There is a Western politicians openly mocked China Last year, haha, how ignorant

BEIJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with his Argentine counterpart Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner here on Wednesday and they decided to further enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Recalling his visit to Argentina in July last year, Xi said the important consensus reached then between the two presidents was being implemented and progress had instilled a strong driving force into the relationship.

During the July visit, Xi and Fernandez announced a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

"I am even more confident of the outlook for China-Argentina relations," Xi said during Wednesday's talks.

He said China and Argentina, both as important emerging markets, should boost exchanges and cooperation, share development opportunities and work together to address their common challenges.

Xi said the two countries should give full play to the intergovernmental permanent committee, make use of the Strategic Dialogue on Economic Cooperation and Coordination, and implement the joint action plan approved by the two governments.

According to a joint statement on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership released after the talks, the first meeting of the intergovernmental permanent committee was held earlier on Wednesday, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries.

Xi said the two sides should ensure the success of the ongoing railway and hydropower projects in Argentina, boost cooperation on infrastructure, agriculture, energy, mining, equipment manufacture and other sectors, and give special attention to nuclear power in the next phase.

The Chinese president also looked forward to closer cooperation on customs, product quality, finance and currency swap as well as stable growth of two-way trade between the two countries.

Xi said the Chinese market is open for Argentine companies and China will, as always, encourage Chinese businesses to invest in Argentina.

China will also strengthen coordination with Argentina in international organizations and other multilateral mechanisms including the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Group of 20 (G20) and the Group of 77 (G77) plus China.

During the talks, Fernandez said Argentina attaches great importance to deepening comprehensive strategic partnership with China and she hoped that the bilateral cooperation will yield fruitful results.

China has become an important engine for the world economy, said the Argentine president.

Argentina hopes to boost cooperation with China on nuclear energy while the two sides are working together to build two hydroelectric dams, namely the Nestor Kirchner and Jorge Cepernic in pursuit of energy diversification, according to Fernandez.

She told Xi that Argentina hopes to increase the amount of currency swap with China, welcomes Chinese automobile and telecommunications companies to build factories in the country, and looks forward to more Chinese businesses' participation in exploiting potassium and lithium resources there.

Fernandez expected more Chinese products in the Argentine market as well as more export of Argentine produce to the Chinese market.

Fernandez said Argentina and China always support each other on issues involving their major concerns and that her country stands ready to cooperate with China in the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and other international organizations.

The two presidents also discussed the cooperation between China and Latin America as a whole and pledged more efforts to boost the cooperation.

After the talks at the Great Hall of the People, Xi and Fernandez signed the joint statement on deepening the partnership and witnessed the inking of a string of deals.

Prior to the talks, Xi held a red-carpet ceremony for Fernandez, who is making a three-day state visit to China at Xi's invitation.

Typical Indian attempt to put China in a bad light and make fun -- as if what Indians think or believe really concern Chinese. This trolling and seeking negativity is what puts China-obsessed racist-Indians under a very negative light. These right-wing ultra nationalists are sore to see China to outdo India in every development index.

Ignoring these trolls is the best answer to them, probably. Because, on this forum, the largest and most systematic hatred toward China comes from the Indian members. While Chinese members ignore their forum, they populate and troll this section as if they are paid to do so.

By the way, no offense taken by the remarks of the President of Argentina.

China and Argentina ink closer relationships

Chinese President ‪#‎XiJinping‬ met with the President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in Beijing on Wednesday, cementing the two countries’ political and economic ties.

It is the second time the two leaders have met in the past seven months. Though President Kirchner had missed several important overseas meetings due to an ankle fracture, she was out of her wheelchair for this week’s three-day trip in China.

The meeting facilitated the signing of multiple major deals aimed at expanding investment in various fields, including education, culture and transportation.

One of the biggest ‪#‎agreements‬ was a hydro-electric project in ‪#‎Argentina‬.‪#‎China‬ will invest $4.7 billion in the construction of two hydropower stations in the southern province of Santa Cruz.

Furthermore, the China Development Bank will offer a $2.1 billion loan to restart a long-delayed railway project in Argentina.

While China will help Argentina in building infrastructures, Argentina in turn, along with other Latin American countries that specialize in agriculture-related businesses, agrees to send more diversified exports to China.

In fact, China is already open to Argentine products such as sorghum, apples and pears.

China is now the second largest trading partner of Argentina, and a main trading partner of many Latin American countries including Brazil, Chile and Peru. In 2013, trade with Latin America hit $261 billion, and after the significant China-CELAC forum held in Beijing this January, trade is only expected to rise in the coming years.
