I think Turkey makes parts for the F16 and assembles them in Turkey, however the vital parts like computers and chips are made in the US, it's same with the new F35 US makes the vital parts.

Taking over a lot of newspapers/TV stations is not really free press.
Turkey is amongst the worst in the world on treating journalists according to statistics.
Erdogan is not a dictator yet, but he is overstepping his authority according to the Turkish constitution.

If Turkey adopts the death penalty, then the EU will terminate the application to join.
Not that Turkey is close, so it may not be considered a price to pay.
All in a very democratic way.
Irony is that if Erdogan loses popularity, his successor may think death penalty is a suitable punishment.

EU is continuing to criticizing the US for the death penalty and Guantanamo Bay.
