Social evils know no boundaries. The terrorists who kill innocents, why would they mind indulging in such exploitation of time and opportunity? While those in upper echelons of the Taliban may be hardcore religious, the newly employed ones on the ground wouldn't mind wavering a little here and a little there to fulfill their fantasies.

However, since there are no journalists in that area, we can never get the videos to be sure whether it is the tradition of 'dancing boys' that is being misconstrued as rampant homosexuality, or for certain there is an going exploitation of similar sort.

Not exactly BachaBazi, but exploitation of boys, yes it would, in remote areas of India and Pakistan both. Sexually deviant people are not restricted to any particular culture or region. They can be found anywhere. However, since exploitation of any sort is restricted in almost all the religions of the world, it would be a surprise if the Taliban are found to allow it.

For as much as I have been told (no certifiable testimonies though), during the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, practitioners of this tradition were frequently prosecuted and punished.

I hate the Taliban to the CORE and from my bottom of the heart, but i need to say something which is close to truth. I am sure there have been and are gays among the Taliban, or perhaps more gays compare to the others as their anti women obssesion had driven them and others to sexual deprivation, but they are not a GAY movement, i personally had caught the Taliban guys in gay sex in a few occassions, but i had to keep quiet as they would have accused me of something else and i couldnt afford that, in another experience, not far from our office(maybe a few meters), the taliban had set up a female only prsion, and that prison was a heaven for the taliban and their guards, they didnt do much, but they were having fun watching girls/women going to bathroom or talking to each other from small holes etc. But to be fair, not all and every talib was gay, and even if they were, who cares..... As per Bachabazi, we shouldnt confuse it as gay relationship, it is CHILD ABUSE, it is a crime, a horrible crime, it was banned under every single gov, be it the communists, the mujahideen, the taliban and our present gov.

Thats the biggest shyt ive ever heard.. tradition? ur steriotyping a whole ethnic group? i have pashtun relatives .. i have lived in pashtun areas for 3-4 years n i havent seen any such tradition!

Homosexualism is not just related to central asia but all countries... india for example might have worlds biggest population of homos coz of its huge population!

There was an article I remember .. back before the Taliban were ousted.. 99 or something in the Herald.. about an Afghan school teacher forced to turn to prostitution thanks to the taliban.. and she narrated on what she had to charge.. and how the Taliban boys still would be able to get it for free.

Talking about Homosexuality in India , this was so alien to our culture we don't have a word for " Gay " either in sanskrit or local-languages. I've not read a single story involving gay behavior or sexual relations between two men, in Ramayana, Mahabharata or any other hindu mythologies

Though we have mention of the transgenders or hermaphrodite characters like Srikandhi in Hindu epic Mahabharata .

If you say Baachabazi(boylover) isn't an accepted norm among pashtuns tribals of Afgahistan and NWFP , Well You know the truth . Other Pakistanis who aren't Pashtuns also know better.

Largest or not We sure do have gays in india ,and they are free to do whats they like in confines of the bed room.
