Arab world rocked by torture video involving UAE sheikh

A video recently smuggled out of the United Arab Emirates shows a member of the country’s royal family torturing a man so cruelly that the U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is now under pressure to investigate and take action. The footage, obtained by ABC News, shows Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al Nahyan, brother of the country’s crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed, stuffing sand down the man’s throat, shocking him with an electric cattle prod and, at one point, dousing the man’s testicles in lighter fluid and setting them aflame. The victim—who is held down through much of the video by a man in police uniform—has been identified as Mohammed Shah Poor, who the Sheikh accused of short changing on a grain delivery to his royal ranch on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi. Near the end of the video the victim is shown being run over by the sheikh who is driving an SUV, the sound of bones cracking can be heard. The UAE government has claimed the torture is not part of a patter involving Sheikh Issa, and that the matter is being settled privately: “By agreeing not to bring formal charges against each other, i.e., theft on the one hand and assault on the other hand,” a spokesman said. But in Washington, the co-chairman of the House Human Rights Commission, Rep. James McGovern, is demanding that Clinton temporarily stop any “funds, training, sales or transfers of equipment or technology, including nuclear” to the UAE until an investigation is completed.

So your contention is that only the west supported ruling class ill treats the south asians. Is it true?

so how many attacks have we seen on the ruling classes by the oppressed 'brothers' - local and south asian? hmmm... somehow the poor kafirs are high on priority list...

Feel very sorry for the victim, not even an enemy should have to go thru this.

I just read even more shocking news, the man being tortured by UAE Price/Sheikh Issa, is a Pashtun man possibly from Pakistan or Afghanistan. Or the victim is an Iranian foreign worker there....The reason he was tortured was because he was "funneling" grain back to his country or something, the details are sketchy as of yet.

The victim is most likely a foreign worker there.

This is a preliminary report...

Mainstream media is quoting he's an Afghan grain dealer called Mohammed Shah Poor.

Yes I also saw this report, it does appear the man is an Afghan grain dealer named Mohammad Shah Poor working in the UAE.

Apparently he was "funneling" grain out of the UAE back to his country...

The question now is what will the UAE government do in response to this horrendous brutal inhumane crime. If the UAE fails to carry out justice it's image will be tarnished.

If the article is correct, no charges will be pressed by either side. So, in return for the grain thievery being unreported the prince goes free. Apparently this is being amicably settled (yeah, right "amicably" settled when the accuser is a prince and you are an immigrant).

This is pretty ridiculous. If the video had not surfaced, not only would the victim have been tortured, he would presumably also have to suffer in jail for the charge of being a grain thief.

Sometimes I think the world has a sense of humor. Fate takes a bunch of desert nomads, gives them a cruel king and puts a load of oil under their feet. So the nomads become wealthier beyond belief. Meanwhile it looks around, finds the most crowded, fertile lands and separates them into two religions and starts a war. So the people from these crowded, fertile lands are perennially poor and have to go to the desert to make a living and get tortured by the cruel king.

absolutely disgusting, royal or not, this guy needs an A** whooping...
I hate how these new money beduins act like spoiled brats, and forgot that without the oil they would still be sitting in their tents doing nothing.
