A Career advice , I want to do my GIS degree with last year of research on its Military applications , that i can help Army/ Air force / Navy to have spot on info before they go out there to fight.

To help them draw a spatial analysis and 3D/HD interactive maps of India , Afghanistan and all other hostile border areas and collect the info in a Software program which could be installed on a display mapping device which may Navigate them through the bush and the places they have never been before in their life and not to forget Night navigation.

That they can develop their defensive battle plan with much more precise information.

GIS applications are a must use/could be used in following Military hardwares.

* Gunships
* UAV's / UCAV's ( terrain mapping and more effective search and track
* Cruise/Infrared guided missiles
* Tanks
* Fighter jets / bombers or as an accessory to Pilot's portable moving maps.
* Can be used for identifying target for artillery on a difficult terrain ie. FATA

* Can be used to setup new sensitive installations and military camps at secure places.

* Space research ( which is less likely at the moment at home )

and it has a broader range for navy as well.


What exactly i am looking for is the right advice in the direction i have just explained.

I am not exactly a geophysicist, but an Astrophysicist. But I do have some experience with geophysics. Let me know what you want to know.
