I am not very happy with Anthony-he may look clean or is clean (though my dictionary does not allow any politician to be given a clean adjective) but he is slow in results, be practical and get things done, if DRDO or any other national lab cant do the work, make a public private collaboration with funds infused in every phase of the development but every stage based on time and budget constraints in place.

In general, India's defence preparedness is much better now than a decade back.

Despite being in the position in the period where India has had the largest defence budget in its history- he has ushers in less defence deals than his predecessors!


Mr clean "Saint" Antony has saved his own backside and sold the military down the river. All he has had to do is put his knock out a little, use his discretion as Def Min and take a bloody descion! But this was found to be too challenging for this great guy so these powers have now been given to the DAC as this bloody fool wasn't doing a damn thing on most deals.


If possible I'd have this guy charged for criminal negligence- under his watch countless military officers have been killed in ageing fighter and helo crashes because this guy has been stalling through his indecision. If I had lost a family member as a result of this guy and people still called him "clean" I'd feel ,rightly, homicidal!


Bring in someone else- this guy has done enough damage.

it is not his fault. Everything point you mentioned has a lot corruption built into it ove the decades. Infusing cash will just see it disappear with no results. Wha tis trying to do is correct thes epast mistakes by putting proper procedures in pace that will keep the corruption in place to varying degrees. The issue is that not a single minister of politicans tried to correct this problem before. That is the biggest and most alarming problem. If anyone of them continues to throw money at the problem hoping for results is not thinking long term.

Bullshit! YOu are excusing and forgetting DECADES of ingrained corruption. Wha you think Fernadez was better? Plz GTFO. THe defence portfolio is the most lucrative portfolio in India for the WRONG REASONS (BRIBEs & Corruption). AK Anthony has to revamp the entire system which he is trying to do. What he has exposed is how f-ked up it is which leads me and others to believe our govt was working against us in order to line their own pockets.





He has to be careful coz it is becoming evident that even senior staff are pushing for various defence deals b/c they are bribed which leads to issues if INdia is obtaining the best system or not. Don;t blame him, blam the system in place all these yrs.

While St. Antony's actions/lack of action is debatable, he must do the right thing when it is eventually time to step down and institute some much needed changes such as
i) The post of DefMin must be filled with an individual who has served at some point in any branch of the armed services
ii) Decentralize R&D, or at the very least create another entity that will help DRDO (or Mr. Chander's own plans)
iii) Lobby to increase defence spending to at least 2% of the budget, with additional funds for 'black' projects
iv) Increase maintenance standards.
v) Shelf outdated equipment immediately or convert them into items of further use....case in point: Mig-21's
vi) increase interoperability between the 3 major service commands and the intelligence services.

While St. Antony's actions/lack of action is debatable, he must do the right thing when it is eventually time to step down and institute some much needed changes such as
i) The post of DefMin must be filled with an individual who has served at some point in any branch of the armed services
ii) Decentralize R&D, or at the very least create another entity that will help DRDO (or Mr. Chander's own plans)
iii) Lobby to increase defence spending to at least 2% of the budget, with additional funds for 'black' projects
iv) Increase maintenance standards.
v) Shelf outdated equipment immediately or convert them into items of further use....case in point: Mig-21's
vi) increase interoperability between the 3 major service commands and the intelligence services.

I completely agree with each and every point. The only question is with point 1, how do we ensure that we do not place a candidate who has been corrupted by certain elements in the armed forces who are helping foreign agencies? That particular area of concern should be given extra thought. Elminate political and senior military staff from the selection process is only one partial solution.
