Anti-TPP Movement in Japan

We are talking about TPP here. It is not a particular US-VN deal. You two are just two of the 12 something members/candidates.

Japan does not listen and TPP drags on, and no Japanese dies. Japan has an option, a better one, what other option VN has on the economic side?

Russia is a great nation, a strategic partner to China. But how much they can help you economically?
They soon will have to listen, JP is under US control , there is no choice for Mr.Abe, or he will be sacked.

Thats the different between independence nation (VN) and dependence nation (JP-SK-TW etc), we (VN) work for the benefit of our nation while JP-SK-TW must work for the benefit of US.

That might be true. But, without Japan, TPP is dead already. What the US will do with you?

But TPP is a multilateral institution, does not quite work in bilateral way. You have a complete bloc of nations to face, US is just one of them.

Any idea of impact of FTA on Japanese agricultural sector.

Common point made by Japanese diplomats conversation with their American counterparts is sensitivity on agricultural sector, with regard to TPP

REGIONAL ARCHITECTURE: THE TRANS-PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP --------------------------------------------- -------- ¶11. (SBU) Asked about the President's announcement November 14 in Tokyo that the United States would engage in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade agreement, U/S Hormats told DG Okada the United States is committed to Asia and to meaningful dialogue on new regional architecture. Before commencing actual talks with TPP partners, however, the United States must consider basic questions about what the content of any negotiation will be and which countries would be first-order candidates to engage. Any agreement will need to be of the highest standard, in particular in areas such as labor, the environment, and intellectual property rights, he said. In the interim, we can continue to achieve progress on ease of doing business, reduction of barriers on trade in green technology, and improvement of the investment climate, U/S Hormats explained. Both DG Okada and DG Suzuki expressed Japan's interest in the TPP, but conceded Japan would be unable to enter into negotiations at this time due to domestic sensitivities related to agriculture.

To be honest, i think it might be a necessary sacrifice. Either way Japan has to deal with this if an FTA is signed with China/Korea and if the TPP is passed, in the end, this agricultural issue will have to be tackled.

Some Japanese anti, some Japanese pro. Always.

I think JP will sign the TPP soon, coz many JPese have came to VN to continue their agricultural business, they train VN farmers-fishermen their skill, trasfer their technology in growing high quality rice, vegetable, catching ocean tuna etc.

So, u dont have to sacrifice ur agricultural sector when joining TPP, just come to VN and continue ur business, u r welcome :enjoy:

TPP soon will come to reality in JP, they r ready to continue their agricultural and fishing business in VN.

Who cares if Abe is sacked or not?

If the next PM is even more anti-China than Abe, then Japan's economy will be further more toasted.

If the next PM is more pro-China than Abe, then we can benefit by easing the tension.

It will always be a zero sum game for China to win everything.

Even JP will be more toasted, they will still survive and Okinawa still be a military base for US. China still be contained, nothing change for poor Ah Q . The only thing u can get is just 'spiritual victory' as usual :pop:

It will depend on the concessions made by both the United States and Japan.
