My family hails from the border region of East Punjab and Kashmir. We were forced out by threats of violence. Even though our region was Muslim majority, British gave it to India.

Lanatullah on all those who caused the bloodshed of innocents to redraw borders.

Not a single Non-Muslim region of Punjab went to Pakistan, while plenty of Muslim majority regions went to India. This is how 1 million were massacred and 14 million were made refugees.

9%. Shocking. I would have thought 1% would be too many. Could the truth be that BJP is not half as partisan as it is made out to be. I mean there is no doubt that Modi is patriot and would know that having war with 20% of his countries population would not help India on the road to become a international power. I actually had a chat about how things are with a Gujrati hairdresser about 2 years ago. He was from Ahmedabad and he said there was no widespread anti Muslim repression in his area. When I pointed him to the 2002 riots he said that it was in the past and did Pakistan not also have cases of killing etc

Well indians particularly bjp and rss are f***** up in their minds and hate muslims with passion irrespective of their origin but you are also right I have never understood why what is happening with indian muslims is made a big issue in pakistani media. They are a foreign people no different than muslims in srilanka, nepal or burma etc. but for some reason our media portrays any negative news related to indian muslims as if they are citizens of pakistan and we have to specailly "worry" about them all the time which has never made any sense to me at all. I personally strictly differentiate between Kashmir and rest of India before someone blames me for hypocrisy or something.

Precisely. If your going to shed tears for Muslims, well we have 1.8 billion of them across four continents and 50 countries. And lots of terrible things are happening to them as of this moment. I don't understand why the Indian Muslims are "more Muslims then other Muslims"??

My grandparents fathers and uncles owned so much land before partition. When partition happened rioters came into the zameen and killed all the farmers there. After that some Hindu Congress members gave the adress of my family to the rioters, and the rioters came into the haveli of my grandmas uncles and aunties and they were all slaughtered and riddled with bullets. My Grandparents and their brothers and parents soon learnt of it and they escaped. Everything was lost. Hundreds of acres of land, tonnes of jewelry, and a whole generation of my family wiped out.

Hey, I feel for you. Gurdaspur, Forozpur should have gone to Pakistan. The Muslim leadership failed terribly. And I know it's not comfort to you but the few Hindus/Sikhs got shafted in our area. I heard stories from my grandparents. Their shops/properties and women were 'procured'.

I know but our leaders failed. The crazy thing is the Muslims enjoyed closer relationship with the British then Hindu's. Gandhi and Nehru had been right pain in the backside of the British during WW2. However at the critical moment when we approach 1947 and drawing borders Nehru, that basket gets into Mountbatten's good books, possibly by slipping into his wifes knickers, but be that as it may the cnut managed to finesse Gurdaspur, Firozpur out of Mountbaten. Winner takes all. Loser weepers.
