Another chinese provocation: Tests its Sukhois at upgraded airfields in Tibet

Stepping up its military activities in Tibet, the Chinese PLA has carried out a major exercise there with its Air Force that for the first time saw Sukhoi-30s being pressed into action. By operating Su-30s, the Chinese military was also able to test recently renovated airfields and runways.

As per Indian assessment, there are now seven airfields in Tibet from where Su-30s can operate. Two of these have been built recently.

While the exercise took place about two months ago, details have begun to emerge only recently and formed part of a detailed security review undertaken by Defence Minister A K Antony a few days ago. The Cabinet Committee on Security was also kept informed. The armed forces were of the view that there was no major cause for worry as India was also upgrading its capabilities.

From what is known so far, this was a division-level exercise but was also ambitious because the PLA had moved a mechanised formation into Tibet for this purpose. This mechanised outfit is essentially part of the Rapid Reaction Force which have been developed by the PLA to cope with future “small-scale, high intensity regional combat and military operations”.

The RRF formations are usually equipped with hi-tech equipment, their personnel receive special training and they are considered superior to regular formations.

The RRF along with the Air Force and a regular mountain infantry division carried out what was called a “joint defence and counterattack exercise in frigid high-altitude mountain areas and a complex electromagnetic environment”.

Since the beginning of the year, the PLA’s Tibet Military Command has been quite active, holding smaller exercises, testing the Tibet railway for carrying military equipment and increasing the frequency of regular drills. While much of this went unnoticed, sources said, what caught attention this time was the involvement of the Air Force and Su-30 operations.

India, on its part, is watching the developments closely. While the Armed Forces see this as an expected response to India improving its military infrastructure in the Eastern Sector, including upgradation of the Tezpur airfield for Su-30 MKIs, the larger political concern remains due to the unpredictability of Chinese intentions.

War mongering china always believe in bullying and provocation but don't have guts to admit it openly.:agree::agree:

India should be well prepared and beware of back stabber's evil intentions.

All I could say is that it took you an awfully long time to connect China's deployment of Sukhois in Tibet and China's "warmongering" tendencies, given that the news was out for about a month. What's next, Chinese "warmongers" stationing 11,000 troops in Kashmir? (Oops that one is already busted so you have to make up a new one).

. .
China is way ahead of India. They can do whatever they want!!

. .
Didnt IAF station a squadron of MKI's in the N-E? We surely saw that as deterrence and when the Chinese do it, its called provocation. Our media needs to find better things to raise tempers.

to some of indian members, it's every right for india to deploy their super duper su30mki in border areas, they jump and plaud the movement but if others do the similiar things it immediately become 'warmongering' and the crying of back stab again

.
provocation?
of course china is full of it and india didnt place any aircrafts in its northern areas...oh wait.

.
Its their country.....Did they enter India??? How is this provocation....

India deploy missile on border with china......Self defence..

Indian Deploy Latest fighters with China.....Self Defence.

China deploy its Sukhois......Provocations...

:disagree:

.
Its their territory.Let them do what they want. Our job is to be prepared for any eventuality and increase our own defence/offence mechanisms

.
NOT a provocation

its only logical for the PLAAF to ensure that they can use their prime fighters when and where needed. simple as that.

.
A clear example of media sensationalising a routine military drill....such news articles only undermine the public's faith in the armed forces.......we need a far more responsible breed of journalists.....

.
Anybody who feels that India is threatened by Chineese moves along the border need to take a pill...

look at our government, do they look threatened at all??:lazy:

:azn:

Bottom line is we are least bothered.:pop:

:)

.
I think India's greatest enemy is herself. India is driving herself nuts with paranoia. India will destroy herself before another China-India could take
place.

Sir I think you are over reacting a bit.

There was a thread many months ago about something that IAF deployed SU-30s near Pakistani border . Most Indians had a point that its their bases and country and they can deploy SU-30s where ever they want to. I FULLY AGREED WITH THEM.

Now what goes around comes around. I will again say that PLAAF is free to deploy their assests wherever they want to.

Whats the fuss about :undecided:
