This kid - if he is indeed guilty of the crime - comes from an extremely privileged background. NSU (North South University) is one of the top three private universities and is the last place one would suspect of having a den of Islamist extremists. He is no low-grade Gunda.

We are just as surprised as everyone else. How can one turn into an extremist when one has been spoon-fed since birth and not wanting for anything in life. And going to college in a modern, open, well-balanced environment like NSU. Which is an accredited institution by all of the top education markets in the world.

bangladesh does not have such level of extremism.. may be that gave a false sense of security to bloggers...
I saw a bangladeshi on facebook saying religious people are silly and he is happy to be atheist(there was a silly poster about rejecting april fool day as it promotes lies)... but he did no get any harsh abuse as such.

OK I looked around and looks like Australia did not end up concluding a treaty with Bangladesh after all. Not surprising - considering most Bangladeshis aren't that much into criminal activity.

However they do have a crime cooperation agreement with our govt. under the London Scheme (which is a worldwide criminal extradition framework). So this guy might be extradited after all and get his day in court. They've got his DNA all over that Chapati/Machete.

i don't think they ran to Australia. the criminal is either chilling in BAL headquarters or already in India. btw will the low grade murderers that Indian govt propped up to govern Bangladesh be able to run to India in time?

It's the only reason I can see behind they would possibly turn into an extremist.No hard lesson in life,when they think the world is as they thought it is,haven't felt the hardship of life,Parents giving in every whim they made,never hearing the words "NO" ;thinks they can do every thing they wants to do.Spoon fed spoiled brats turned extremist,that is what they are.

This is what happens when corrupted people becomes the All in all in an institute.For years NSU athourity has ignored the threat posed by extremism among it's faculty members and students,hadn't taken actions against students who get involved in these terror activities,appointed people who is religious extremist in nature as faculty members.It was bound to happen!!

Well, many members of ISIS are....'educated'.

When they feel that their political views are being suppressed, feeling unable to express themselves, feeling the injustices in their society of their home country and seemingly cannot do anything about it, they go through other means to do something about it.

Not justifying their ways, but just hinting at the psychology going on there.

While they may appear noble and brave (depending on one's perception), these people are usually very gullible and ignorant with no idea as to the consequences both for themselves and who or what they stand for. Entire families can be shattered just like that.
