Anatolian Eagle' 19 - Thunder to roar in Turkey !

SD-10's have large fins unlike AMRAAM C series which are sleek. Hence SD-10 will be difficult to mount on double/triple ejector pods.

Fortunately he did.

The only pilot loss of JF-17 was during a low level sea skimming mission of JF-17 over Arabian sea. The body was never found.

@airomerix bro my masoomana sawal.....coz you are too teche....May help my mind wandering ...

Just your take on an imaginary scenario ...same war zone as 27/2...replace IAF planes on that day with mix of Rafales/SU30s/F21 and PAF with F16s/JFTB3....re-paint the possible outcome....

If the Rafales have AWACS and EW in the package, they will turn the tables on PAF with the longer ranged BVR. The scenario may get reversed from what happened earlier.

It's hard to say.

Because since a decade Su-30MKI on paper was considered that invincible spaceship. And truely its specs were that on par with F-15 which is considered the god of air war.

What PAF achieved on 27th was a surprise. The surprise was received very badly by the IAF due to huge gaps in training doctrine and over all professionalism of the force. Also, the mantra of Indian government of staging false surgical strikes further demoralise the indian forces since they always fear the backfire. 27th was a backfire for India.

Still, if we assume IAF is well prepared for an offensive attack over Pakistan with lets say Rafales, F-21's, Su-30s and with AEW&C support. IAF is no walk in the park for us. While we will be struggling to get radar locks with AIM-120C-5's, F-21's will be launching AIM-120D's and Rafales will be cutting their meteor which is also a high profile weapon

What saves us is India herself. The game of warfare stretches far beyond weapon systems. Operational preparedness, perseverance and discipline is what Indian Air Force lacks and they cannot buy it off the shelf.

@airomerix.
Sorry but was it not the other way around. In The wing break off incident the pilot ejected but crashed into the hill and passed away. The sea skimming incident resulted in the pilot being saved if the press is to be believed. But certainly the first pilot perished in the incident.

The issue is not only replacing aircraft but their weapon systems and pilot experience. Still if we consider what you want it would come to tactics. Those with superior tactics would have a better outcome.

Thank you for elaboration.... This scenario suggests the gap of a 4.5 Gen Platform for interdiction of incoming strike package ..and as you mentioned in above post, Typhoon is the best fit for such role (be it on 26/2 night or 27/2 morning like situation...)

After S400 and new Fighter Jets added in their inventory...our strike mission would be more and more difficult specially crossing LOC/IB. we will be heavily dependent of next Gen SOWs. PAF will be more on Defensive strategy.

also note...Modi is going to be re-elected and keep in mind "Aaj Rafales Hotey tu Nateja kuch aur hota" ..this fanatic will go for revenge.

Raf Typhoons are participating in Phoenix instead of Eagle.Italians might bring their Typhoons in Eagle
I don't see any RAF aircraft in Phoenix Exercise. Probably, they are participating only as observer I think.

Delighted to bring you all some exciting news.

No.28 squadron 'Phoenix' is gearing up for Anatolian Eagle'19 which is to be held in June at Konya AFB, Turkey.

More news to follow. :)

Theme: 'Air Dominance'
Participants: Turkey (F-16s/F-4s), Jordan (F-16s), Pakistan (JF-17s), Italy (EF-2000/Tornado), 2 unidentified countries.
2 Other countries could be USAF and Saudi Arabia I think. But, I'm not sure.

Engine requires replacement after 4000 hours.

The overhauling gets due just after 800. Guess the GE F100's engine life?

The burden of larger frame is easily offset by its huge engines and exceptional TWR. Exactly why Typhoon is considered one of the best dogfighters. It bleeds and regains energy at the whim of the pilot. Also, Typhoon's internal fuel carrying capability is more than twice of Thunder. So it doesnt have to worry about running out of fuel while engaging in a dog fight with JF-17. Lastly, Typhoons ECM/RWR components are very sophisticated.

There is a reason why it is considered on par with F-22 Raptor in its A2A flight envelope.,

There is a facility in PAC Kamra which is specialising in RD-93's tweaking/over hauling. I think the engine issues might have been overcome by our gents working there. Who knows.[
I believe you meant GE F110 (PW supply the F100). 6000 hours then major overhaul.

Yes hell lotta difference. The Eurofighter being more powerful would simply regain energy quickly. Its structure is also built with better composites which remain intact during high stress situation.

The first JF-17 loss was due to breaking off of a wing during high speed pass at speeds in excess of Mach 1. The benchmarks used in GVT (Ground vibration tests) were not satisfactory it was later found. There is alot more to the story which i do not want to say or disclose.
is that issue alleviated now? and is there any plan to implement better structural integrity tests alongside better composites for the aircraft's body?

Oh yes it was a typo.

F110 requires major overhaul after 8000 hours.

Yes it has been rectified across the board.

USAF - Highly unlikely since JF-17 is going.

Besides, I doubt there can be said anything between the US & Turkey.

Anatolian Eagle is supposed to take place in June - just around the time the US has given Turkey a deadline to Cancel the order for the S-400. Not gonna happen. The minute the US officially cancels the delivery/order of the F-35's to Turkey - you can expect some important people from Russia signing a deal for the Su-57.

Here is my take..., you can expect Russia to take US's place in future Anatolians'.

Interesting. So with this 'regain capacity', why does it have to bleed that much in the first place.

Some fighter jets bleed energy faster than others and this depends mostly on aircraft design and engine performance. Russian fighters generally have better capability to bleed energy as compared to US fighters. And they regain it faster too. Cobra manoeuvre of Su series is a byproduct of this capability.

For readers who might not be familiar with the term, in fighter parlance when you say you're "bleeding energy" it essentially means that you're losing airspeed. In fighters we say that "speed is life". So losing airspeed, or bleeding energy, is generally, but not always, a bad thing.

There are a lot of ways to bleed energy. Some of the more obvious ones are:

  1. Pulling back on the throttle to slow down. You might do this if you are approaching a merge with excess airspeed so that you can get closer to your best turning (cornering) speed in the event that you want to turn to engage. You may also do this to reduce your infra-red (IR) signature while you are approaching a merge with an opponent, thereby making it harder for him to get a head-on, IR-missile shot.
  2. Climbing: If you have to achieve a high rate of climb to engage a target, you will most likely be doing this in full afterburner. However, even at this maximum thrust, if the distance to the target is short and the altitude difference is large, you may lose significant airspeed.
  3. Sustained turning under high g: Anytime you turn under g, you increase drag. When maneuvering against an adversary, you will be max performing your jet using full afterburner while trying to manage your energy sensibly. You will trade altitude for airspeed while trying to force the opponent to fight your kind of fight. If you pull too hard and inappropriately, you will bleed too much energy and lose the advantage. Increased engine thrust and vectored thrust are some solutions to this source of energy bleed.
  4. Rapid high alpha turns: Some planes can generate lots of nose authority (high turning rate) in a short period of time. You sometimes want to quickly point towards the target to either take a shot or to threaten that you are about to take one. A smart bandit will have to honor a properly timed and executed nose threat. This forces the bandit to turn harder into you and forces him to bleed energy. You may be doing this to actually take a shot or to slow him down, if your jet has an advantage at slower speeds. However, this high alpha turn also bleeds your energy.
Properly managing the aircraft's energy is a huge part of a fighter pilot's job.
