ANADOLU Shipyard to Build Two LSTs
.

ANADOLU Shipyard which has successfully completed and delivered 8 LCTs (Landing Craft Tank) to Turkish Navy during 2012 has also accelerated its work on LST project in the first weeks of the year 2013.

ANADOLU Shipyard has signed a contract with Turkish SSM (Undersecretariat of Defense Industries) to manufacture and build two LSTs . The Project Implementation Schedule has not started yet as the necessary finances were not provided. However, ANADOLU Shipyard has intensified its work on the preparation of the LST project as contract negotiations were well advanced with ASELSAN and HAVELSAN, two flag ship companies of Turkish Foundation of Armed Forces.

Similarly, contract negotiations with another Turkish Defense Industry company İŞBİR Elektrik Sanayi A.Ş were also brought to a successful end during the second half of February 2013. Thus, a supply contract was signed between ANADOLU Shipyard and İŞBİR Elektrik Sanayi A.Ş for the sourcing of 3 main generators and one emergency generator for each LST to be built by ANADOLU Shipyard.

This ships will have 2 x phalanx (Front & back) and 2x40 mm twins cannons (front gate's right and left) (Just like recently modernized "TCG Osmanbey" ) and also as seen in the model picture above.

Another detail is : They will have smart-s mk2 3D radars and advanced CIC / operation rooms. İt means they will also have a role as a command ships ..

edit: phalanx number corrected.

there is two phalax on the model. Also you cant put 1 phalax on this important ship.

Hope the SPAAG Project will finish soon, We could mount them on our Naval ships insted of the Phalanx.

It should be accompanied by some protecting ships(frigates or corvetttes)?

Possibly an Destroyer or AD Frigate like T-2000?
Should be a frigate,Salih Reis,Barbaros,Yawuz or G class.
And a sub.
TF-100 and TF-2000 not ready yet(could take 5/10 years).
We dont have destroyers.

35mm SPAAG isn't an equivalent of phalanx :P it could replace the twin 40mm AAs but i don't see the need for that. Using ground-based systems on ships has some challenges. Only a few STAMPs and STOPs could be of some help here.

Are we considering that these ships will be escorted?

Of course, CIWS' are only for self defense (even while escorted every ship needs these) and guns are to support landing operations.

But, a few STAMPs and STOPs around wouldn't hurt, in a ship this size there are more than enough crew to operate a few more weapon systems. It's a marine ship after all :)
