AN/TWQ-1 Avenger vs cruies missile ?


Well IMO,
it has a chance less than 40%. For any cruise missile, especially for supersonic, hypersonic missiles. But if the missile is coming head-to-head it can intercept. But again. It's designed more like for the cruise missiles using terrain track, flying on very low altitude, speed less than 220-230 m/sec. :)

the question is does it really capable of stopping cruise missiles attacks ? and how good cant defend against them ?

Avenger uses Stinger MANPADS missiles, which is combined UV/infrared homing ('heat seeking'). So long as a cruise missile has a heat signature, I see no reasons why it couldn't be engaged by Stingers. Question is how big an IR or thermal signature a cruise missile has, relative to a jet or helicopter, and what the minimal signatures are that would still register with the Stinger. You can ask similar question for Stinger use against UAVs.

Note that the USN RAM antimissile-missile terminal guidance is done by an infrared seeker derived from that of the FIM-92 Stinger missile, coupled to RF homing and that in test firings, the Block 0 missiles already achieved hit rates of over 95%.

So, I think antiship missiles can be engaged by heat seeking manpads missiles. However, you'ld preferably use a automated, remote controlled missile mount (Sandral, Gibka). If you can engage antiship missiles, then most likely cruise missiles in general would not pose a problem either, unless they are newer generation missiles which incorporate stealth shaping and other signature reduction features, specifically aimed at reducing thermal/ir/uv signatures.

Similarly, I'm sure laser beam riding (e.g. Bofors RBS 70, Bea Starburst and Starstreak a.k.a. Lightweight Multirole Missile) or a (SA)CLOS missiles (e.g. Bea Javelin) could be used for anti-missile work, when coupled to the right detection and sensor systems. Inote that, Avenger can use Starstreak as alternate missile.

Since when Harpoon and Gabriel ASM's got ground attack capability?

Relevant to the question insofar as dealing with shipmounted MANPADS systems ... Plus, there is the SLAM variant of Harpoon to consider. Besides, some (newer) antiship missiles have (limited) land attack capability e.g. Norway's NSM and Sweden's RBS-15 MkIII
