Wait, are we gettin Saar 72???? NICE :-)
Anyway, it has been confirmed that Saar 6 and several others will have combination of Iron Dome and Barak 8 for lower operational costs and higher chance of interception

Best I know there no longer are amphibious/landing craft or ships in IDF service. So, what are you saying? Will there be acquisition of new landing ships?

Probably to replace the oldest 3 Saar 4.5

  • INS Kidon (Javelin, 1995) (Sa'ar 4-class built in 1974 and converted to Saar 4.5 class in 1994) – Active
  • INS Tarshish (1995) – (Sa'ar 4-class built in 1975 and converted to Saar 4.5 class in 1998) – Active
  • INS Yaffo (Jaffa, 1998) (Sa'ar 4-class built in 1975 and converted to Saar 4.5 class in 1998) – Active

Omg, I surely hope so.
Anyone else can confirm this statement?

The Israeli Navy revealed on 18 May that it has had small landing craft called the Manta class in service for several years. (Yaakov Lappin)

Thought so, they didn't look exactly new to me ;-)

I'm not sure that IDF has ordered any. I merely stated that if so then probably to replace some of the older missile boats.

Well, apparently one of these LCI's was enforcing a blockade on Gaza strip against SV Estelle back in 2012.

BTW, new LCI's of the Republic of Singapore Navy look suspiciously similar to these Manta-class LCI's.

In 2013 an Israeli ship builder announced another model for Saar family of small surface warships. This new one, Saar 72, was aimed at the export market but the Israeli Navy ordered three. The Saar 72 is an 800 ton ship with a crew of fifty (and accommodations for 20 more commandos or other specialists). In effect Saar 72 is an enlarged and improved Saar 4.5/ Saar 72 is 72 meters (223 feet) long, stealthy, and designed to accommodate electronics built into the blended, radar evading, superstructure.

Not the most reliable source, I admit.

Singapore and Israel are very close partners no surprise
Well, yes and no. No, given their longstanding defence industry relations. Yes, given that the Israeli navy has tended - with few exception - to look to domestic products.

Sea corps 11th Flotilla disbanded in 1993
The last amphib surface unit (INS Ashdod) retired 2001
So, some time after this a deal with Singapore must have been struck.

The first of Singapore's four Endurance class LPDs (RSS Endurance 207) was launched 14 March 1998 and commissioned 18 March 2000.The fourth, RSS Endeavour 210, commissioned 7 April 2001. Boats and landing craft carried include four 13m fast craft equipment and utility (FCEU) and two 25m fast craft utility (FCU) vessels. So, imho, this pretty much also marks the start of ST Engineering's Brave series of craft.
