Amnesty International on Afghan Refugees

When India revoked the status of Kashmir, General Bajwa said that we do not have diesel for the tanks.
Another completely irrelevant reply from you

Thank you for this random piece of information

I really don't know how to rationalise the thought process of people like you but I think slavery is etched into your psychee, it just switched from the British and now to the "Muslim bradar mulks"

If India gets Gilgit-Baltistan without firing a single shot as claimed by Modi, then it is these Afghans and Pashtuns from Tribal Areas who will fight it. In 1948, it was the Tribals who liberated part of Kashmir from Indian occupying forces when General Gracy refused Quaid-e-Azam's orders to attack. Similarly, When India revoked the status of Kashmir, General Bajwa said that we do not have diesel for the tanks. Already, India is building a road in Kashmir leading to Gilgit-Baltistan. It wants to cut-off Pakistan from our life-line China.
Gilgit Baltistani locals the ones who defeated Indians and made Indians surrender, and Gilgitis almost captured Leh.

On the other hand Pashtuns looted baramulla for days instead of advancing to Srinagar and capturing the airport before Indian forces could land there.

But Pashtuns did strike a lot of fear into Indian soldiers, who were too afraid to launch large scale offensives into AJK and instead sent small relief columns.

Where was Gen. Gracey led sepoy force, why didn't it capture Srinagar instead of outsourcing it to the tribals?

Oh wait, Gen Gracey refused Quaid's orders and sepoys send him home years later with fully military honor and pension and this mfkr's portrait still adornes the mass hall of sepoys to this day...

KARACHI: The government’s announcement of a short voluntary departure deadline for ‘illegal’ immigrants, most of whom are believed to be Afghans, has drawn criticism from several quarters.

Around 1.3 million Afghans are registered refugees in Pakistan and 880,000 more have legal status to remain, according to the latest United Nations figures.

But caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti said a further 1.7 million Afghans were in Pakistan illegally.

The announcement prompted a robust response from the Afghanistan Embassy in Islamabad, which accused Punjab and Sindh police of conducting a ‘ruthless’ operation against Afghan refugees, without distinguishing between genders and even arresting women and children.

Embassy decries ‘harassment’ of its nationals; UN official says refugees’ return must be ‘voluntary’
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Afghanistan’s embassy said more than 1,000 Afghans have been detained in the past two weeks — half of them despite having a legal right to be in Pakistan.

In addition, Amnesty International has also called out the Pakistani government for creating a space of ‘fear’ for refugees.

“Despite the repeated promises of the Pakistan authorities, the arrest and harassment of Afghan refugees by the police in Pakistan continues,” it said.

Former senator Afrasiab Khattak urged the caretaker government to handle Afghan refugees as if they were “vanquished people”, cautioning that the animosity being sown today will be harvested by future generations.

“The intense hatred being sown today will breed animosity which will be reaped by many generations. The darkest chapter of Pak-Afghan policy,” he wrote on his X account.

Social worker and activist Meena Gabeena highlighted how this policy directly impacts the Hazara community, especially children and women, who have a historical record of enduring various forms of violence from the Taliban simply because they possess a “Hazara face”.

“These stories are real. If you try hearing the ‘illegal immigrants’ also known as innocent people, you’ll know!”, she wrote on X.

Activist Usama Khilji said it is ‘illegal’ to ‘expel asylum seekers’.

“Pakistan government should make exception for the precarious situation Afghans find themselves in Afghanistan under the Taliban government without access to education for girls & no rights for women,” he said in a post on X.

Asfandyar Khan, an officebearer of Mohsin Dawar’s National Democratic Movement (NDM), also condemned the ‘inhumane treatment’ of Afghan refugees. “They [Pakistani government] cannot build peace by bringing them, training them, and then neglecting their rights. They must uphold international laws and human dignity,” he wrote on his X account.

“Many Afghans living in fear of persecution by the Taliban had fled to Pakistan, where they have been subjected to waves of arbitrary detentions, arrests, and the threat of deportation,” the organisation emphasised.

When asked about the new policy, a US State Department spokesperson simply said that Pakistan had been an important partner in the resettlement of Afghans looking to flee or resettle abroad.

But a United Nations official also opposed the deadline. “Any refugee return must be voluntary and without any pressure to ensure protection for those seeking safety,” Qaisar Khan Afridi, an official of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) told Anadolu Agency.

He said that the UNHCR was prepared to assist Pakistan in establishing a system for overseeing and recording individuals seeking international protection within its borders and addressing ‘specific vulnerabilities.’

PAKISTAN: GOVERNMENT MUST NOT DEPORT AFGHAN REFUGEES

Responding to reports that the Government of Pakistan has ordered all unregistered Afghan refugees to leave the country by November 2023, Nadia Rahman, Amnesty International’s Interim Deputy Regional Director for research in South Asia, said:

“Afghans in Pakistan are fleeing persecution by the Taliban. They are living incredibly precarious lives where they are either having to undergo arduous processes for registering as refugees in Pakistan; or are stuck in lengthy processes waiting to obtain relocation to another country. A forced return to Afghanistan could put them at grave risk.”

Amnesty International urges the Government of Pakistan to continue its historic support for Afghan refugees by enabling them to live with dignity and free from the fear of deportation to Afghanistan where they face persecution by the Taliban.
Nadia Rahman, Amnesty International’s Interim Deputy Regional Director for research in South Asia
“Afghans in Pakistan are in urgent need of greater support as the obstacles and delays they face in registering as refugees or for third country relocation have left them in a legal limbo and made them even more vulnerable to harassment and stigma. Amnesty International urges the Government of Pakistan to continue its historic support for Afghan refugees by enabling them to live with dignity and free from the fear of deportation to Afghanistan where they face persecution by the Taliban.

“Amnesty International also reiterates its calls to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to expedite registration and reviews of applications from Afghans seeking international protection in Pakistan; to the Government of Pakistan to stop the crackdown against and the arrests and harassment of Afghan refugees; and to third countries offering relocation to Afghans abroad to expedite the issuance of their visas. The international community must act immediately to keep up their initial promises of providing protection to those fleeing persecution in Afghanistan.”

BACKGROUND

On Tuesday, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced the crackdown order on “illegal immigrants” including Afghans in Pakistan. In recent years, many Afghans living in fear of persecution following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021 have fled to Pakistan, where they have been subjected to waves of arbitrary detentions, arrests, and the threat of deportation. Because of considerable delays in the registration process, most do not hold Proof of Registration (PoR) or Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) cards, the identity documents that entitle Afghan refugees to remain regularly in Pakistan. Many arrived in Pakistan with regular visas, which have since expired.

Previously, Amnesty International has documented the harassment meted out to Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

The UNHCR has issued a non-return advisory for Afghans outside of their home country following the Taliban takeover. According to the UNHCR, there are more than 3.7 million Afghans in Pakistan, who fled Afghanistan for both economic and political reasons. Only 1.4 million of them are formally registered.

In December 2022, Amnesty International raised its concerns with regards to the situation of Afghan asylum seekers and refugees to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

It's very funny to me how pseudo-Islamists like @R2D2 talk against the US and Anglo-Zionist world but don't mind spamming their articles when it's something they like 😂

Keep spreading your Amrekan abbus propaganda

If you were a proper Islamist you'd encourage them to return to their native land ruled by the Islamic Taliban and Shariah, instead of posting articles about "fleeing Taliban extremist persecution" 🤡

One thing they all have in common is they take pleasure in the death of Pakistanis. They are children of OBL and CIA Al Qaeda psyops.
