American Kills self, for not getting Indian citizenship.

i don't blame that guy for killing himself, he couldn't get citizenship to be an indian.

If he went to India because he admired the progress India made in software engineering, and wanted to contribute to or learn from it, then his death would be a real pity.
But that's clearly not the case. For him, India is just a convenient excuse for his moral degeneracy. It's an insult to Indian moral standard.

Shame... what if a poor Indian was Stateless in the U.S. and burned himself alive out of despair?

Would mockery be the order of the day?

No one knows if he was a "hippie" or evil in any way.

True! No need to speculate on what this guy was doing in India. There are Americans in India who are not hippie kind

What a sad loss of life. What do people think before committing such foolish acts?

Very few things in this world are worth giving one's life for. This is certainly not one of them.

I don't really understand..do u really need citizenship to live in India?..No one cares until you are not threat to national security..In this case that wasn't the issue.

Only 2 reasons why people from countries like US want to live in INDIA

1. Spiritual Reasons
2. DOPE (belive me i saw villages of dopers in Manali(Himachal). They even marry village girls. Cause there is India's biggest production of weed. )

In Manali you will find more shops with names written in Hebrew than English/ Hindi(all letters look like 77777 to me)

India is a relatively free country... Hippi culture is one of the Indian culture, The nomad ppl from western part of India moved to Europe (Called Roma people). Charlie chaplin was one of the descendant of Indian nomads....

The old culture is still alive.. Nomad ppl still exist in India... If you are mocking of this culture, then please do not...

Dude nomads exist everywhere they are found all over the world. Indian nomads are not in anyway connected to hippies, the first Europeans were themselves nomads and no they weren't coming from India. Here's an article I found on Wikipedia not a single mention of India. History of the hippie movement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The process of obtaining an Indian citizenship is an arduous journey. I know it from the experiences of those who are still trying. The closest anyone can get is via marriage to an Indian national (you'd be eligible for an X visa). But even that would require you to prove that your marriage is stable and has been that way for at-least 2 years. Please be advised that EVEN this is NOT a sure way of getting Indian citizenship.

Otherwise, you could wait 12-14-infinite number of years and still not be eligible for Indian citizenship.

In short...Its INCREDIBLY hard.

Indian bureaucracy is a pain in the as$....lol...
