America or China: one day, we will have to choose

China looking upon Russia. But China-Russia unity is a Chinese day dream. Russia would unite with US than China.
True....so many here forget that Russia is a white, western, Christian entity. When anyone pictures Moscow....they picture St. Basil's.

you might be correct in that sense.

geo strategic concerns transcend race, color, and relegion

Russia has more geo strategic concern with China and they would never allow the Chinese to dominate them in Asia. Hence Russia-China being allies is far from any possibility.

Losers make comments like this. YOU will not see the 'collapse' of the US. Neither will your children and neither will your grandchildren. And the odds of your great grandchildren seeing such 'collapse' are not that good either.

lol he is like a 8 year kid very happy with increase in his height & is happy that height of US is not growing but doesnt know that us is a 40 year adult whose height wont increase nor decrease but will remain a bully & more experienced:azn:

Why are you obsessed with India?

Maybe because Indians always flood these threads to take potshots at China by living vicariously through American might.

On topic, the Chinese posters really need to get a better understanding of Australia. Ethnically and culturally, Australia is SOLIDLY European. All the trade in the world is not going to change that reality.

Chinese don't get how racial fraternity works. Beyond their comprehension.

White men fought each other in WWII but in the Far East, used both Chinese and Japanese, both belonging to the same race, as expendable pawns. Though the Japanese did realize the game at some point, the Chinese however failed to realize throughout the entire course of events. They still don't get it.

Yup, they could have reached out to their very capable brothers in Japan and South Korea, instead they threaten them. .

Very true.

It's not even about race or culture, we have been allies to the Poms for 100 years and the yanks for 70 years, we have fought beside them in two world wars. This doesn't mean we can't have a friendly relationship with China and hopefully the two blocs don't have conflict.

The west is not a "white bloc".

I don't put as much stock in ethnic bonding, but cultural ties exert a strong influence on which way a nation leans. Economic interests may force a marriage of convenience, but culture goes to the core.

You can't blame China. Since the Japanese were the ones who committed heinous crimes against China, it is for them to make amends.

百足之虫,死而不僵

Americans are still a long way from falling, and even when they do actually start to, their military at current strength without any new weapons will still top 3 in 60 years and more.

The way I see it China and US will eventually reach a new point where any confrontation, will be like cold war, in a unrelated country with no easy way of reaching the other without massive loses if even possible.

However, unlike the cold war, China AND US are both interdependent, very involved in the world, both huge economic powers, and envies of the world.

So this won't be a cold war, but it also won't be a one man show. A new world order is upon us.

define long way from falling?

militarily they have all the toys and tech, this they can still probably leverage for a couple of decades.

but i see for america a steady and slow implosion from within, simply due to economic strains and demographic changes, that will make the population more troublesome and less productive

and in that case america becomes dangerous, very dangerous - because they are a nation with military superiority but internal strife and insecurity, hence wars and conflicts become like a crack addiction, always need one more war, one more conflict to keep the society together.

Ethnic bonding goes hand in hand with cultural ties. And yes, on the second part, I agree.

You are one of the smartest posters and my favorite. You however can't ignore the fact that Chinese were no angels to the Japanese. The Nationalists sided with the Anglo Saxons, the Communists with the Slavs, lets forget ideological factionalism. How could have Japan acted differently? What Japan did was wrong from today's POV but in such situation it was a necessity.

Dont know if i my observation fits the thread but in my personal opinion its NOT about choosing either US or China over the other, but i feel all those countries which earlier had only ONE choice that was siding with US, now have a broader vision to side China at the same time and keep playing a balancing act viz a viz their relations with the two.

and thats the situation which Australia for that matter currently India faces
