Many people know the Americans lost the war in Vietnam. But not many people do not know that one of the causes of defeat America in Vietnam is Indonesia. How come? Consider its history.
America is the strongest country in the world over the past century. Strong in economics, strong in the military field. Just to illustrate the strength of its military, we can see two facts:
First, the foreign exchange earnings number one in America is on the export of weapons, and then export the movie.
Secondly, PENTAGON, the US Defense Department is an institution of copyright holders in the world. Most inventions are in the field of armaments. This means that US weapons have proven the most developed in the world. These two facts show how powerful America. However, with all this power, America lost in Vietnam. At least 2.7 million Americans who served from Vietnam recorded 58 159 people dead, 1,719 missing, and 303 635 people were injured (wikipedia).Indeed, the number is fewer than the number of Vietnamese who were killed, but the departure of Americans from Indo China region is clearly a historical fact that America lost the Vietnam war.So what to do with Indonesia?
American soldiers lost in Vietnam because they can not face the Vietcong insurgent attacks.Vietcong guerrillas are masters of the battlefield in the forests. They are masters of guerrilla warfare techniques. Then, from Vietcong guerrillas learned guerrilla war opponents winning result America? Here conjunction war in Vietnam and Indonesia. Vietcong guerrillas some leaders said that they read the book “Principles of Guerrilla War” by General AH Nasution and make their guidance in setting strategy. Nasution is one of 3 General Big 5 in Indonesia.
Vietcong are not based at Mao Tse Tung were also experts guerrilla war because of natural conditions and different communities. Natural conditions and communities that are most similar to Indonesia and Vietnam is that there is in the book by Nasution (Dr. Salim Said and Saleh A historian Djamhari UI- said this in a seminar). So it is no exaggeration to say, America lost the war (one of them) for Indonesia.
