The US House of Representatives has defeated an amendment to the Defence Appropriations Bill to stop American funding to Pakistan.

The amendment was moved by Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, who alleged Islamabad had undermined efforts to combat terrorism.

The amendment was defeated in a voice vote yesterday.

"The policy which has us funding Pakistan's military is wrong, and the fact that we can't even debate a precise dollar figure is absurd. It is insane for us to continue borrowing large sums of money from China to give to Pakistan," Rohrabacher said.

He said it was a farce to believe that the US aid, sometimes deceptively labelled as 'reimbursements', was buying Pakistan's cooperation in hunting down terrorists.

"It was the Pakistani establishment that sheltered Osama bin Laden for years. And they continue to jail Dr Afridi, the man who helped the CIA locate bin Laden. Why would Pakistan do that if they are really on our side?" the Congressman asked.

Claiming that the abysmal human rights record of the Pakistani government is shameful, Rohrabacher said it was even worse because American money contributed to strengthening the security forces that kill and persecute minority groups who are denied their right to self-determination.

"This is especially true for the Baloch and Sindhi, two large ethnic minority groups in Pakistan. Our money equips the Pakistan military, which brutally oppresses the aspirations of both of these people, both of which have a long history separate from Pakistan," he said.

"Pakistan is not an ally, and any money we send them only strengthens their ability to act against us and against Afghanistan as we withdraw our military. We cannot buy the friendship of a government whose strategic interests are not aligned with ours. They are allied with terrorist elements and our ever more dangerous adversary, Communist China," he said.

This is the real face of US, they fund these rented terrorists against Pakistan, these rented terrorists are assets of US & her allies. Just because these rented terrorist are getting their a$$e$ kicked US is crying in congress for them.

To be honest it is corrupt politicians fault who are unable to defeat these rented terrorists & are quiet. Military operation should had been launched in Balochistan province along with NWA ops, as ganja was already briefed earlier this year that it will take only 4 weeks to clean up Balochistan province, but the ignorance from ganaja is a clear proof that he does not want to solve Balochistan province issue which is rented terrorism flowing in from rented Afghanistan.

Words?

@tarrar yes its true that they all are their rented , trained assets. but as operation in Baluchistan. I don't think it require any Operation as Operation is not the only resolve for every problem. as FATA and Baluchistan much more different..so only better Inteligence sharing, a firm FC actions and cooperation of other Pera-military and Civilian forces than this and Karachi's Menace will be cleared out... if Army, FC or any other forces required according to their powers and while giving them authority then i dont think Operation will be required, as Operation caused million of people's displacement and other social anarchy etc...

lolll. Apparently the US congress does not agree with someone on Indian Payrol aka Dana

Ignorance at its peak! If there's any one who suffered the most from the afghan adventure, its pakistan. And how would they know. They're used to fighting their battles on other countries' soils.
