Turkish tractor manufacturer TÜMOSAN will begin work on diesel engines for the country's Altay main battle tank in 2016 and will rely on domestic design and manufacturing, CEO Kurtulus Ögün announced on 22 October.
Turkey's negotiations with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries over proposed co-operative development of a powerplant for the platform were abandoned in 2014 and in March 2015, TÜMOSAN's Power Group Development programme was awarded a USD200 million development contract.
