LAHORE: Lawyers protesting in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday called for the immediate suspension of the license of rights activist and former Supreme Court Bar Association President Asma Jahangir for representing the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in a case relating to a media blackout against party chief Altaf Hussain.
The protests organised by Advocate Aftab Virk and others alleged that the MQM was involved in the murders of lawyers during the 2007 movement for the restoration of judiciary.
The protesters called for the cancellation of Jahangir's membership of the Pakistan Bar Council and other legal bodies.

Earlier this month, the LHC ordered the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and the Press Council of Pakistan (PCP) to ensure a complete blackout of all activities of the MQM supremo in both electronic and print media.
The ruling was made after a hearing of three petitions seeking a ban on media coverage of Altaf following his alleged remarks against state institutions, including the army and Rangers.
The court observed that there was sufficient material on record to order a complete blackout of the activities of Altaf Hussain, including what it called his hate speech, news regarding his activities as well as display of his picture across electronic media.
The petitions had been filed by Advocate Aftab Virk, Abdullah Malik and others.

This is not a valid charge to try her and judge her. And I believe nothing in code of conduct (if there is any) for lawyers would prohibit her legally to represent her client, except that her client happens to be a foreign national.

I think she should be arrested and sued for her killer looks.

As much as we despise such people and they must be condemned, none of them comes even closer to this "human rights activitist" mask-wearing vermin! She has a looooooooooong history!

She has no ideology, no moral values and no ethics. Wearing a mask of "human rights activist" to protect all those terrorists who are working against the state where you live, just to stay in news and to earn few extra dollars from foreign NGOs, is tolerated no where in the world!

I have seen lawyers representing terrorists around the world, but they do it most of the time to provide justice to the accused, not just to earn few forein NGO dollars!!

1=But they are not condemned in fact they are praised, some of them are probably involved in this illegal protest. Same lawyers who were praising the terrorist that killed the governor of Punjab. Are now asking this women license be cancelled because she has agreed to represent MQM leader in Pakistani courts.

3=Lawyers in Pakistan represent terrorist and refused to take cases from Poor who couldn't afford their fees. How is that any different?

You cannot possibly blame terrorist infestation in Pakistan on a lawyer or human rights activist, no matter how much you like or dislike her.

As soon as the people responsible for the Terrorist mess in Pakistan are mentioned, one will be labeled enemy of security establishment and a traitor.

MQM itself was created and supported not to mention ignored for years by the security establishment of the country to become a monster it is today, yet no one point's fingers in that direction because calling a Lawyer, terrorist is an easier way out.
