All set to observe fifth death anniversary of Salmaan Taseer today

All he said was that the blashphemy law is a black law. I say it too. It is the blackest of laws invented by mullahs to control the masses. I can prove so as well from Qur'an that it is not Islamic. Will a mard e momin shoot me too? :coffee:

I have no sympathy for the elite & liberals of Pakistan. They are perhaps the most corrupt strata of Pakistani society. I've seen their behavior. Their lifestyle is no different to that of the wealthy Saudi princes who get drunk and sleep with whores, engage in the most degenerate and corrupt form of living, yet pretend to be moral and righteous. Pakistani liberals are also the most arrogant and snobbiest. They think they are better than the rest just because they come from privileged class of society. They look down on the common man. They are the ones who promote extremism to further their own interests but when their pet terrorists turn on them they blame religion for all their woes. Good thing 90% of Pakistanis don't share their filthy outlook on life.

Honourable Desert Fox.

Liberal is an English word. According to Oxford Dictionary, Liberal is someone who is willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one’s own and is open to new ideas. Its antonym being ‘Conservative’ who is averse to change and holds traditional values.

Being ‘Liberal’ has no relationship with being ‘Elite’ and an arrogant person, who considers himself above others won’t be a liberal. In the UK you find that moneyed classes or the ‘Elite’ who have gone to public schools tend to favour the conservative party and it is the less privileged who favour the liberal values. However this is not universal. A liberal could be from affluent class or from a family with meagre resources. Simultaneously a conservative person could belong to an elite class and also he can be a poor peasant.

You have quoted example of Saudi princes, certainly you can’t call them ‘Liberal’. In my humble opinion ‘Liberal’ is a mind-set; it has nothing to do with how much money one has.

Sir, I know what liberalism is, but im referring to these people as "liberals" because that is what they consider themselves. Whether they fit the textbook definition of liberal or not is not my point. Their definition of "liberalism" is anything that's not traditionally Pakistani or which contradicts Pakistani cultural norms.

I know these people because unfortunately i have them in my family. They are very corrupt, detest their own people, culture, and identity, abuse the laws and get away with it because of their connections with important government personalities, they bash Islam and blame Islam for all of Pakistan's problems, and yes they do indulge in the most decadent form of lifestyles to show their "rebellion" against the "aam banday's" culture. They want to prove they're different from the common man and not shackled by traditional values. This "liberal" mentality is certainly mostly confined to this group of people.

Being liberal doesnot always mean being wealthy you can be a student, doctor, taxi driver and still oppose ills of our society like treating Christians as untouchables or burning Qurans to expel christians from a place

He was a governor you are a common person. You can say whatever you like, you are not a people's representative. When you are an eminent personality you gotta tread carefully, Simple!

Asia Bibi blasphemy case - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is the same case in which Taseer got involved. The charges against her are of blasphemy, she is accused of uttering obscenities at Islam and not for drinking water from the same glass--------There are conflicting statements from her and her protagonists: some claim she is being punished for drinking water from a glass, some say it was a well and she says her neighbors had an old vendetta. Since i don't know whether she really did commit blasphemy or not so i wont comment on that. But there are certainly some loop holes in the story being peddled in the western media especially the likes of "Christian watchdogs".

It is not a question of common or eminent personage. It is simply a question of tolerance. If people are not ready to even listen to an opposing view, then that means that there is something seriously wrong with our society. He gave his opinion, no one had the right to take law in to their own hands and shoot him. That's all I am saying.

In his case his designation mattered. If an eminent person voice something that will definitely have a broader impact than a normal person doing it. There are so many activists who voice their concerns regarding so many issues in Pakistan, but if let's just say Nawaz Shareef will speak on the same issue, it would have quite a different impact. We can condemn Qadri or not it doesn't really count, but if Shabaz Shareef will express his views on Qadri that will create quite a stir.

I find her case to be similar to that of Rimsha Masih
