I realise that marriage is a social necessity more than a religious one.
My point was that how were the old civilizatins about sex? The Egyptians were pretty funky I know. So were the Romans.
Chinese maybe @Chinese-Dragon can educate us. Then there is us.
But if you se the clothing, I don't think male hormones have evolved al that much that males those centuries ago would not have a serious case of interest.
But see the clothing now. The west is moving towards underwear being the new outerwear. Not the same thing is it?

Indian civilization was pragmatic about sex and liberal about clothing. Romans/Egyptians were more on the funky side. Reason why India had more robust long lived stable civilization than the other ones.
