The final series of 667-family project 667BDRM "Dolphin", like its predecessors , is created within the walls of CDB "Rubin" under the leadership of general designer Sergey Kovalyov.

The design of the new submarine is a further development of 667-th family. From the previous project 667BDR its distinguished: increased due to the increased size of the missiles height of the "hump" (fencing missile silos); extended length fore and aft extremities of the ship; contours of the outer hull in the area of 1-3-th compartments were "pripolneny." Measures have been taken to significantly reduce noise and reduce interference when the onboard sonar equipment. In the area of power pack installed local absorbers, increasing the efficiency of acoustic coatings lightweight and rugged design.

Main propulsion submarine includes two water reactors VM-4SG (90 MW) and two steam turbine OK-700A . Nominal output power plant is 60,000 hp On board the ship there are two turbo generator TG-3000 , two diesel DG-460 , two stroke motor economical capacity of 225 hp

In submarine project 667BDRM installed pyatilopastnye low noise propellers with improved hydroacoustic characteristics. To ensure the most favorable regime screws work on lightweight body delivered a special device, aligning the incoming flow of water.

On submarines of this project significantly improved habitat crew. Submariners have at their disposal a gym, solarium, sauna , etc. The system electrochemical regeneration of air and carbon dioxide absorption has been improved.

New system:
To centralize the management of all types of weapons installed It collects and processes information on problem solving tactical maneuvering and combat use of the torpedo and missile torpedo weapons.

A new sonar system CIM-520 "Scat-BDRM" . In the bow of the ship is its antenna, radome which is made of fiberglass, which will significantly reduce the level of sonar interference. Also, there is a second, trailing antenna, which is located in the rear of the ship and in the inoperative position retracted into the housing.

Installed navigation system "Gateway", which provides the desired precision missile applications.

Missiles:
Submarine got a new weapon - 16 ballistic missile R-29RM , which later when upgrading to the enterprise "Zvezdochka" in 1996-2001 were replaced with a modification ofthe P-29RMU2 "The blue". Start - Single and volley - can be carried out to a depth of 55 meters and at a speed of 7-8 knots. It is planned to re -P 29RMU2 .1 "Liner".

Torpedoes:

I read somewhere that India was interested in Japanese Soryu class, but since it has the most advance tech, specially the LI-Ion battery replacing the independent propulsion system, which even Europeans failed to do hence due to that secrecy in technology, it will b tough to procure this class.

It will be tough to get the TOT, not to procure the sub.

It is quite likely that NAMO will have to compromise like he did with the Russians and we might end up with less TOT than we would have liked.
Another thing could be replacing the Advanced AIP system developed by the Japanese with DRDO developed AIP, like the one going into the Scorpenes

Replacing the AIP with DRDO developed AIP will be like taking out half of the price and basic reason for buying this submarine. This is one of the most silent ones in dive only due to the Li-Ion battery supported propulsion. I hope they manage to get atleast some of the ToT.
