Pop icon Ali Zafar has sent a defamation notice to Meesha Shafi after she hurled accusations at him for sexually harassing her on more than one occasion. Ali Zafar in his legal notice has called Meesha Shafi’s claim as a ‘reckless allegation’ and has demanded an apology along with fine of Rs.100 million.

A defamation suit will be fined against Meesha Shafi if she fails to apologize and delete the tweet dated 19th April 2018, within two weeks of the notice being served.Singer-cum-actor Meesha Shafi has appointed Muhammad Ahmad Pansota and Nighat Dad as legal counsels to oversee issues pertaining to her sexual harassment claim against Ali Zafar.

“I have appointed Barrister @pansota1 and @nighatdad as my legal counsels to look after all issues pertaining to my sexual harassment claim against Ali Zafar. Media is requested to contact them to get an update on the ongoing issue,” she tweeted on Tuesday.

Nighat Dad is a lawyer and a women’s rights activist. She is a renowned activist and has received several international accolades while Barrister Pansota is a Lahore-based lawyer.Last week, Meesha Shafi in her Twitter post made a startling confession that Ali Zafar has subjected her to sexual harassment of physical nature several times.

Meesha Shafi said, “I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar.”

Well this is going to get interesting.

Ali Zafar has to take legal action, otherwise it's seen as an admission of guilt.

At the same time, if lots of alleged victims come forwards and take a case to court against him, suddenly he risks facing criminal charges.

This will be a tricky case for the legal system to deal with.

The metoo campaign was started by the Hollywood hookers and as usual it is being imitated by their Pakistani counterparts with little bit less class I must say. This campaign was never meant for the genuine victims. They should better go the courts instead of embarrassing themselves and their families publicly.
