Alexander the Great and his Conquests

.

The incredible story of Alexander the Great and his conquest of the known world is brought to life with animated maps, images from Osprey Publishing and Total War game footage.
Follow the incredible story of the Macedonian king as he embarks on the total conquest of the ancient world's greatest superpower, the Persian Empire. With dramatic victories at the Granicus, Issus and Gaugamela, Alexander defeats Darius III and claims the throne of Persia. But his campaign to subdue the empire's easternmost provinces and reach the edge of the known world will take him into modern Afghanistan, Pakistan and the frontier of India, where he meets the king Porus in battle at the Hydaspes. This is the complete overview of Alexander's conquests, a 10 year period of immense drama and historical significance, as the young Macedonian king's breathtaking achievements ushered in a new era in European and Middle Eastern history - the Hellenistic Age.

BS.Alexander lost in the end therefore he didnt advance..Much of his army sank in the river of Chenab. If excavators inspect more around Multan they can perhaps unearth they mystery of Alexander Army's fate back then..

Hannibal most likely was a greater commander than Alexander, on the tactical level at least. Faced an extremely tough opponent in Rome, nothing like Alexander faced in his entire career. Personally I'd rate Scipio higher too for sheer smartness, but that's me.
Alexander introduced and popularized Hammer and Anvil combat strategy to defeat a larger army in the field. He also focused on terrain while evaluating his options for a battle. Hannibal adopted these measures.

No, Alexander defeated Raja Porus but turned his attention towards Multani kingdom. There was a limit to how far he could advance in the subcontinent with already battle-fatigued troops. For some decades much of ancient Pakistan remained a part of Alexander's Macedonian Empire but it all fell part due to infighting and powerful Indian Mauyrians finally saw an opening to advance into ancient Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Alexander defeated Raja Porus
You dont get it dear, mutiny, retreat and fatigue are themselves hints of a defeat however they couldnt explicitly associate defeat with alexander the GREAT..Every empire has a limit to stretch , that stretch ended at Hydaspes and and it had been perfectly fine had they called it a battle among many lost but they chose not to because the last battle lost doesn't digest well with critics.
Not to forget most of this greek history was rewritten after the great fires destroyed their libraries. The Greek recorders had to keep Alexanders record flawless .Unfortunately there was no alternate record of history back then therefore thats all whats available to us.Today we should think objectively rather than blindly following a text. Today modern history puts a question mark on the result of this battle while the those who look at Greece as the trailblazer of human rights and democracy still give Alexander a benefit of doubt.
And i dont know why you squeezed the Mauryas here..
