Siachen???????????

Looks like MMS is really pushing about Siachen.

Indian Defence Minister meeting Kayani is weird.

It is weird and certainly does not mesh into the norms of protocol. After all the DefMin is some notches above an Army Chief.

Be that as it may, Its Kayani who has really been pushing hard on Siachen/Saltoro. Things there are getting too hot for him now. So he in turn leaned hard on Zardari to raise the issue with Man Mohan Singh during his (Zardari's pilgrimage) to India. While MMS cannot certainly cannot unilaterally decide on Siachen, which he knows. Most of the Indian Estt. is clear on demarcation and definition of the AGPL there before any military diengagement can be proceeded with. The Shimla Accord between India and Pakistan clearly enunciated that the concept of No-mans land/undefined LOC will be unacceptable.

ISPR has just now clearly rejected this claim by Indian media... ISPR says no chance of meeting between Kiyani and Indian Defence Minister..ISPR has promptly denied this, otherwise , in some issues, ISPR is very lazy and after much time, they issue a press release abt an issue..but here, ISPR has been very prompt and quick in its response& rejected it.. So as usual, this is another bullshit claim by Indian media

The whole idea was weird, firstly because protocol does not allow the DefMin to discuss Policy Matters with an Army Chief, who is certainly not his equal in any manner (regardless of how powerful he may be).
In any case, the recent statement of the Indian Army Chief Gen. V.K.Singh has very clearly spelt out what the Indian Strategic Estt. thinks on this issue regardless of Kiyani's compulsions; whatever they may be.
