Aitzaz among world’s top intellectuals

PRESIDENT Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan Aitzaz Ahsan has been shortlisted among the worldsÕ top 100 public intellectuals by Foreign Policy (FP) magazine which is published by the Cambridge Endowment for International Peace.

Ahsan is the only Pakistani cited among, according to the magazine, Òsome of the worldÕs most introspective philosophers,Ó several of them Nobel laureates and Pulitzer winners.

The FP states that its shortlist of the Top 100 is based on men and women who Òhave shown distinction in their particular field as well as an ability to influence wider debate, often far beyond the borders of their own country.Ó

Lawyer-politician Aitzaz Ahsan has been counted among the Òthinkers who are shaping the tenor of our time.Ó The magazine cities AitzazÕs academic works and his leading role in opposing antidemocratic moves by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in his short biography, the press release said.
