What Tsgt. Lovely did was -- STUPID. And I speak as a 10-yr USAF veteran.

There will ALWAYS be those in both the enlisted and officer ranks who WILL have issues with authority. I have personally experienced what Sgt. Lovely went thru. That does not mean I support what she did. In the '80s, Asian-Americans were not well known in the service, so I experienced a lot of resistance from many -- whites, blacks, and Hispanics -- on taking orders from me. I had no problems taking orders, but I had a lot of problems giving orders.

America is not perfect and since her military is composed and representative of her people, inevitably, you will find issues and problems of the human relations sort. This is in no way indicative of how black women are in the US military. It is just unfortunate that we have the right combination of problematic personnel meeting together and clashed.

From this video, we do not know the full story.

Maybe Sgt. Lovely is correct, that she inherited a few disrespectful black females as subordinates.

On the other hand, maybe Sgt. Lovely is truly in the wrong, that her interactions with the black females subordinates somehow and someway made them feel uncomfortable and from their reactions, Sgt. Lovely turned it so that she portrayed herself as the victim.

But no matter which, Sgt. Lovely should not have publicly made her grievances, fair or else, this way. The video was wrong. But other than that, if we do not the details of her case, best to leave it as is.
