i asked the question because in every picture of tejas,aams are carried in the end harpoints
Both are Heat seeking as you can see the seekers clearly they are specifically put on the wing tips as it provides for accurate locking... since the heat is far less at the wing tips than near the fuselage so a good lock.... the 5th Gen. planes with internal bays had a big problem for heat seeking missiles since they could not lock the target before launch... hence side bays were made for heat seeking missiles in F-22 and PAK FA.... however F-35 does not have any such side bays.
