Majority of Pakistanis dont fly either. Secondly, Indian flight operations are bigger than ours, so they will suffer the consequences more. Keep it close till they come to their senses.

Pakistanis never fly East. We fly West. Get a map of Pakistan routes. Only one or two flights go East.

For Pakistan, only flights to Dhaka, Kuala Lampur, and Bangkok are effected. Only 3 cities.

While for India, every city in the world is effected. Haha!!

Closing Pakistan's airspace hurts India much more than it does Pakistan. This is one of those rare situations where Pakistan's elongated geography can be used to our advantage against India.

This has happened before. In the afermath of the parliament bombing in 2001 both India and Pakistan closed their airspace for eachother. PIA had to stop flying to Bangkok, Singapore and Manila. Air India used Delhi-Mumbai corridor for west bound flights making the traveltime from Delhi longer and the tickets more expensive.
India will suffer more as there are more west bound flights from India than east bound flights from Pakistan.
Both countries will loose a certain amount of incomes coming from air traffic control (ATC) rights.

PIA is based in Karachi, but what does an airline's head office location has to do with flight times

Is this India specific airlines banned from overflights or the Pakistani airspace is still closed? I thought it had opened.

Pakistan has few cards to play and out of these few location and airspace are one of them..
I would rather see, Pakistan permanently bans the airspace so that all of our flights adjust its duration and flight path to fly out of Mumbai and West coast towards Europe and West...There will be inital costs to everything...It is better to swallow the bitter pill once for all and get ready for it...

I know, sometimes too much of commercialism impacts consciousness of a nation...Indian airlines should be prepared for Pakistan to ban its airspaces in long run as this kind of war like situation will be more frequest in nature even if we donot like to see it...
So it is always good to prepare for the bad times...Even if it is expensive and duration is long, still then they should have some contigency plan as it is not like, one airline is charging more while others airlines allowed to flow through Pakistan airspace...
